Hope there's enough gas remaining to get those buses out in service tomorrow...

In other news, Walkergate's 19200 has been repainted:

Obviously something we'd never see in public, but they'll have a business continuity and disaster recovery plan to invoke, as I'd imagine the other operators will have too.

34609 & 34612 are also both now Slatyford based.

22063 remains at Slatyford, as does 22215 - the later for disposal. No sign of 22471.

22471 is still in service at Stockton

Cheers - will update accordingly this morning if I have enough time before going out for the Metro.

22215 was at Sunderland two days ago: https://flic.kr/p/rdZxgm
AIG20 usually passes the Wheatsheaf every morning going to college - hopefully he'll be able to shed some light to confirm if it went back to Slatyford yesterday or not?

More than £75m is to be spent on 412 buses for the firm's local networks in England, Scotland and Wales.

The company is also expanding its Megabus service in the UK and mainland Europe, with £6.9m spent on 22 new coaches, while a further 34 coaches are to be built for the Stagecoach Express operation.

MAN E200 39728 is now the worst bus I have ever ridden on - as when I was on it on Tuesday it was slow, sluggish, did not go over 20mph, did not kickdown, it absolutely stank of "body odour", and had a very noisy cooling fan. I have never been on a MAN E200 before that has never really kicked-down frequently.

Meanwhile, I rode on 39707 on Wednesday and this was the total opposite as it went very fast, kicked-down a lot, it did not smell and sounded great.

If it didn't go over 20mph I would suggest the driver was a bit wary of the vehicle. This would suggest why you never experienced the driver 'kicking down' if he was a bit wary of it and was doing under 20mph he wouldn't kick down for the boost it would give. To be fair you don't need to use the kick down on a MAN as they quite powerful anyway and I don't think I've ever used the kick down on any MAN vehicle I've driven and this must be over 200 at the moment. I have a slight inkling your confusing the term 'kick down' with down shifting of the gear box. All MANs are notorious for down shifting and I have a feeling this is what your experiencing.

Drove a couple out of that batch but not 24107, didn't come across as anything special. Did you get a chance to drive any of the Optare Vecta's with Arriva, just cant remember if they was any left with Arriva then. Only MANs I've driven apart from a few coaches have been low floor vehicles and always wondered if the high floor stuff from the early days was any better.

It appears that Volvo Olympian 16714 (N714 LTN) is being donated to a South Tyneside School! I wonder which one?
