''Diamond'' services 43/44/44A - the former 'Diamond' bus company who operated in the area.
''Red Kite' services 45/46 - the famous Red Kite birds that can be seen on the route.
''Angel'' service 21 - passes the sight of the world-famous Angel of the North.
''The Waggonway'' services 28/28A/28B - runs along a former Waggonway route.

But that said, you do have a few that I sometimes can't get my head around. ''Fab56'' service 56, ''Fab57'' service 57, etc, obviously competition winners.

That's when I mean branding has gone to far. Plus I feel the new corporate livery is half hearted

I remember reading somewhere that the Venture brand is named after the old Venture bus company, which operated around the Stanley/Consett area.

That's a good list though Dan, doubt I would have been able to list all of that without having to ask a certain friend....

Guessed it would have been the historical context behind the acquisition of the Venture Transport Company (similar to OK Motor Services), but wasn't sure before checking up on it!

During the early days of route branding, I think senior management from both companies worked together.

Money back guarantees were an idea Huntley implemented at Go North East following its success with Trent Barton.

As you say it was all down to this man and his work with this company TAS. Peter worked on the restructuring of Trent Barton and then was offered the MDs job with GNE, with the intention of following on with the same model as was implemented at Trent Barton.

Lime - Historical context Relating to the lime kiln's in the area.

Prince Bishops - Links to Durham, a section of the route. The links are Bishops of Durham its there mitre i.e hat on the side of the vehicles, buses are painted in there color of Palatinate Purple.

Diamond - Historical context. The original routes south of Stanley were the services of J.H.Hammel who operated as Diamond, Go-Ahead Northern purchased J.H.Hammel.

The Waggonway - Historical context and links to Beamish Museum. Beamish Wooden Waggonway  from Beamish Mary Pit to the Great North Road at Pelaw Grange and the A693 road follows the route at High Handenhold.

Venture - Historical context(?) Another well respected independent in the Derwentside area that was purchesed.

Ta... It's something I've always wanted to see on Go North East's website. Some of them (Blaydon Racers/Crusader/Red Kite/Waggonway spring to mind?) include details of the historical context behind the brand name but the majority don't.

There is an article I linked to (may have been in the branding section), where Peter Huntley openly admitted to being 'inspired' by Trent Barton, who were in effect the company to take branding to the extent we see up and down the country.

Don't forget South Tyne and Crusader. Theres also Washington Street Shuttle when it was around.

The first of Stagecoach Lincolnshire's B7TL/Wright Eclipse Geminis to be converted to open top is 16943 (FX06 AOE) which will be used on the Lincoln City Tour.

Kier seem to be using Merc FX54 LML on their 65 Horncastle -Sleaford service.

Have seen it a few times over the last month or so, but never close up. Not sure where the corporate liveried Solo has gone, which was used previously.

Saw a Solo on the 65. Didn't get to see if it was the old one returned.

Bryaline have ex Stagecoach London ALX400 17757, still in London red.
Checked Stagecoach fleet cards quickly and the last I can see of it, is from period 7 last year and a transfer to Leyton. It also appeared in period 8 and into this year, still at Leyton.

No doubt, it went to Brylaine via Ensign. Not sure on dates or whether it is a fairly new arrival.

TrentBarton upcoming arrivals and movements

• 10 new tri axle Volvo Plaxton Elite coaches are said to be on order for use on Derby to Nottingham Red Arrow. 2 of the '10' reg Coaches on the Red Arrow are expected to move over to service X38 replacing Optare Tempos 307 and 308. Another 2 coaches are planned to go onto Club Class replacing the 2 older coaches on the route.
  
• A number of Volvo B8RLEs are also reported to be on order for the two and Calverton Connection. The B7RLEs used on the two reportedly said to be moving over onto the Derby to Chesterfield Red Arrow route which is expected to be branded something different (Possibly Blue Arrow). The Calverton Connection Citaros are also thought to be moving to Kinchbus for service 2 minus Citaro 902 which was written off after fire.
  

The Open Top Volvo B7TL/Wright Geminis are now all complete and in service:
