Storm Delays
I feel sorry for all drivers today,

Park Lane Interchange is rammed (Only Stands ABCDEF Open) Imagine if actual sat timetables were on

Metro Bus Station Shut

X45/X46/47/47A 2/3 hours late.

Utter mayheim. Wish I was out.
RE: Storm Delays
Apparently the Bridges in Sunderland is shut too, due to safety concerns concerning the glass roof.

No doubt it'll be chaos at the Metrocentre, people trying to get a bus.
Ooo Friend, Bus Friend.

I can imagine the Chaos at Park Lane with only 5 stands open.

Its a wind tunnel too, so its even worse.

Half of the Sunderland GNE services are on a Sunday timetable, so it won't be as bad.

RE: Storm Delays
Metro has now been suspended

Great - and the Sunderland buses are sunday service (GREAT!)

Not that GNE Twitter/FB have any customer service, nor update than this is now closed. Nothing about the X45/46/47/47A delays

What will they do when its over the drivers limit? - or does it not include when a bus isn't in service?

I don't really know how it works - so it might be a dumb question.

Can't he just class that as 3hr break? Chances are GNE send a van with someone in

Aye, the tweet says only A, B and C are in operation - what more do you want?

The Control Room will be trying to manage over 400 vehicles, diversions, drivers who are running late, drivers requiring meal breaks due to coming up to the end of their driving time - I think the tweets they have managed to get out so far are not too bad.

They're doing the best they can.

Arriva has post nothing on their Twitter as of yet.

Stagecoach have a few updates on.

Ik they are, its the fact that their is still no customer service, that would chance to improve passengers feeling about the buses, general inquiries on a Friday night, get dealt with on Monday Mid Day at the best.
RE: Storm Delays
There shouldn't be any customers today barely bar key workers. Anyone who goes into Sunderland to go shopping and get's stuck has no respect from me. There's an amber weather warning for a reason. If you choose to ignore it then it's not GNE/Nexus/any transport firms fault.

Spot on. The Met Office amber warnings advise that "Road, rail, air and ferry services are likely to be affected, leading to longer journey times and some cancellations", so I don't know why people are so surprised. You can't exactly miss that there's a storm.

Maybe Omega54 should be the Gold commander for any amber and red weather warnings going forward. He seems to have all the solutions.

I have the met office app I got a notifcation about whether it scotland around 22:00 - nothing about Newcastle. And if I checked the weather app on my phone it didn't mention the weather.

The Amber warning for our area appeared overnight though the actual forecast is only slightly more severe than it was when I went to bed.

Goodness know how bad this is going to be in Denmark if they're the ones who got to name it!

Did you manage to miss the 60mph gusts of wind too?!

There's fences down, walls down, trees down, debris everywhere...

What if its Newcastle/Metrocentre? - do they get no respect from you if they get stuck?

I see or hear any of that infact, when i got up it was bright and sunny - then around 10-11 I looked on Bus Times and i just saw mayhem
Storm Delays
I checked the weather and news last night and there was no mention of any bad weather today.
It wasn't until we got up to Newcastle that we heard on the radio that there was a weather warning. Not even the weather apps on my phone said it, just to expect wind!

Not sure what the weather warning is at the Metro Centre but in Newcastle if they're not working then yeah tbh. As Adrian said the weather warning is literally do not travel and warnings of cancellations. If you choose to ignore that then it shouldn't be a bus driver or someone putting their life at risk picking you up.

It's been absolute bleak on the SE Northumberland coast and I know it's the same down in Sunderland. It's been as bad as Storm Arwin locally, I'm surprised it's not a red warning tbh and the Met Office made a right arse leaving it until last night aswell to change it to Amber.

The amber warning doesn't cover Bishop Auckland area, or anything South West of Durham really, so probably why you didn't get any alerts?

I checked the weather for Gateshead as we were hiring a van up here today. Even when I check now, there's still no mention of the wind on Google weather unless I scroll all the way down.

According to BBC weather the yellow weather warning was only issued at 4am this morning, with the amber at 7am.
