Car park and ride left totally empty as £51million project can't afford to connect to road (gbnews.com)
Apologise it GB news but it seems to be a right white elephant. Hope the one at AON doesn't end up like this!
Hope any new P&R up here don't end up..

Was having a bit of a think earlier when heading into Newcastle, would there be a benefit to having a Park & Ride site on Teams as from looking on Gateshead Council Website there doesn't appear to be any plans for this section of the estate which has been left vacant since demolition of houses a number of years ago.
I know a few work colleagues who park up on Lovitt Walk just adjacent to Redheugh Bridge and will then walk over the bridge into the office to avoid paying parking charges in the City Centre.
One thing I noticed this afternoon despite Newcastle Match not kicking off till 17:30 traffic was heavy in the area at 14:30 and I thought the old estate would be a good place for a Park & Ride to alleviate traffic.
Another place I thought of was Watergate Forest Car Park in Whickham which pretty decent in size and could fit a few hundred cars in I reckon.

Thankfully new housing is at last planned for both east and west of the Redheugh Bridge in Gateshead. Once it’s redeveloped it should reduce the current fly tipping and fly parking there.
