it looks like GNER are sold out for train tickets to London kx on the 15th March!  I am thinking of getting train to Carlisle then train down to London Euston.   Anyone got experience of these operators??  Are they reliable?

Thanks in advance!

The ECML is shut that weekend North of Darlington, but that's not a route I'd be going.

If I had to do that journey I'd do

Northern: Newcastle to Thornaby
TPE: Thornaby to Leeds or York
LNER: Leeds or York to London

It'll be much quicker than the West Coast. You could in theory do it from Heworth either since it's the same train you'd get from Newcastle (believe it's where you're based at atm).

Depends where you're coming from, Heworth ain't it?

Could go direct from there.

Clicky here - that's the fares and routes there with the via on.

No worries, much quicker than heading to Carlisle then down, least you're heading in the right direction. Some of them appear to be only an hour longer aswell once you've added in going from Heworth to Central which is quite a surprise tbh.

After the way they played yesterday, I'd hold off buying the train tickets!

Have a look at the route planners and see what things are like by putting in different 'via' points.
Split ticketing sites might help on the cost too.

Btw could you not do the half and half if you wanted to drive ie go half way down and just jump on a train there. We've done it at Retford in the past which is around half way and you get Hull Trains which were quite cheap at the time.
