Not sure I agree with the messy changes with the 43/44/45 to force a school bus in with now random gaps in service mind.

Another thing that Nexus should take into account when giving out contracts imo. If it will mean a service gets cut, give it to somebody else.

I get that Arriva will have made it cheaper by pulling that services, but it does show why franchising is popular with the public.

Aye can't disagree, mind I think it might be a Northumberland contract, seems to be the 448 looking at where the bus is going etc and it's just running dead upto Bedlington and dropping back in on the new 'extended' 43 boards.

Mind not sure using your brand new electric buses when they turn up, on a school bus is exactly a great idea, especially the school at Bedlington Station which isn't exactly the most luxury school around - let's say.

Couldn't agree more. It's not good to incentivise cutting services by rewarding them with public money to continue to run it.

As we've seen in the past, operators tend to change their tune, facing the prospect of another 'on their patch'

One of my pet hates.

Many a time in the past, I've arrived for a Washington bound service at somewhere like Eldon Square or Houghton and realised (too late), there's a gap due to a vehicle (or driver) being utilised on a contracted service.

I've not noticed it so much recently, but it was definitely noticeable in the past.
