sorry i have never met anyone on here in person.

I'd say it's pretty to easy to work out that tyresmoke is an Arriva employee.
(23 Aug 2015, 3:41 pm)mb134 wrote [ -> ]As long as the vehicles are to MAX spec, I highly doubt the normal passenger will care about the age of the vehicle, as long as they're reliable and perform well on the route, which I'm sure the B7TL's will do.

I am sure they'll be reliable as they'll be fresh out of refurb. The ones we brought in last summer to steady the ship on the X93 did a grand job before being moved onto an easier patch. Three are back there helping out for the summer 2015 season, complete with a mini refurb which included headrests and wifi. I'm confident that the ones on the X20 will do just as good a job as the last batch did.

Can I just take this moment to bang my head off a brick wall about fifty times, thanks...................

How old are they?

I have only ever met 'R852 PRG' in person, however based on various posts by Tyresmoke, it is pretty easy to tell that he is an Arriva employeee, or at least is very well informed of what is occurring within the company.

Haha I know how you feel...
I'm not sure what age they are because I don't have confirmed identities for the ones we are getting.
Enfield were converting VLW128 LF52UPC though, and they've just completed DW79 LJ04LGX. Not that I'm implying those are coming to us, just to give you an idea of what sort of age we're looking at. I don't think we are getting any more DAF's though so they'll definitely be for another division.

So let me get this straight.......

I assume these B7s are from either 2001/2 or 2003 and have spent most of their lives going around London at 20mph? Then Arriva going to MAX them, then spend money paying for Titan to launch these new old buses for a route which Arriva have extended to Alnwick, mostly to assist the X18 which has buses new in 2014...

This is ridiculous, I really can't see the point in refurbishing 10+ year old buses for a route which runs alongside buses new in 2007/9/14!

Well it would make a change from someone else doing it  Angel
So just to clear things up; will these buses have Urban 90 seats? Big Grin

The Omnicities were 9 when they were refurbished though...

You're safe from me for now, plan on living a bit more before I head to Teesside Wink would involve me getting a Gemini down there as well...

Trimmed with e-leather and in DaveyB spec of no headrests....  Big Grin

Yeah true, they haven't done 20mph on a constant basis and had over a million passengers on them.... They also don't Hoover up the road either.... (rubbish joke...)

Let's not forget the three Omnicitys at Stockton are due to be refurbished to MAX spec for the X75/X76 at Darlington now at the age of 10.
Surely though, if Ashington could have been trusted with looking after them, it would have made more sense to Max 7453-56. After all they are the same age as the refurbished Sapphire and Max E400s. Or are they a bit worse for wear??

Yeah I would expect they'll be 2002-3 builds but if they've been trundling round London they won't really have pushed the engines so they should be pretty reliable. Certainly the ones on the X93 last summer (and 85/86/87 this summer) have been pretty good, indeed better than the E400s they replaced.

I think it could be the state of the buses themselves. Then again, these cascades from London could just be a way of finding those buses another lease of life in the fleet with constant upgrades in London. I'm not particularly knowledgable in either subjects.

if you think about it the ex london buses could be any age because london seem to get new buses quite often so really we could get anything
Its highly likely we will be receiving buses from around the 2002/2003 time as Enfield's workshops are converting a few Volvos and DAFs as Tyresmoke has already confirmed and there's a Arriva Employee in London on Flickr called BristolRE who has posted photos from Enfield's workshops recently.

Someone wrote earlier that we could receive Presidents , There is a DAF President at the back of Ashington depot though its still in London spec so would imagine that's its not for use here

I'd have thought a cascade from London would generally be a bus heading into the second half of it's working life or with just a few more years left in it, as opposed to a five year old example. In years to come, it's entirely possible we could see Borismasters, as they'll be aging just like any other bus. With such a vast network in London, and new buses always on the cards, the older buses don't have much to do and it's why we find them elsewhere in the country. If there is work for them elsewhere in the Arriva fleet, they may as well be moved to take advantage of some free buses.

Also, when you've got a big organisation such as the Go-Ahead group, we have things like the OmniDekkas from Brighton & Hove going to Go North East, and their Citaro Artics migrating south.

saying that it has been parked there for a few weeks and once arriva temsas move to the depot they are meant for then i we might find out more info once it has been refurbed and legals it has.

Unlikely, they're owned by TfL, and are on private registrations. I think they'll be in London as long as the Routemasters.

Fair point, they were built for London.

Anybody's guess I suppose. I can't imagine anybody expected us to get these B7TLs a few years ago.
