It does on the 16/16A Smile

Are there any plans to replace 4896 before 5292 returns?

It has been done loads in the past.  Think the last one was 4993 when it was moved from Sunderland Road and there was also a Verde was moved from Winlaton when a driver was killed.

Can recall a fatal accident with a cyclist in Craghead a few years ago involving a Chester Lime although the vehicle wasn't transferred. Likewise when 6065 hit a cyclist in Low Fell a few years ago.

Seems to be mostly the case when the vehicle involved is not branded and therefore repaints don't need to occur.

Yes I believe the Verde was transfered to Bishop Auckland , we used it on the X23 , X27 and 684

The plaxton Verde ... wasnt it a B10 (4813 o 4816)

Annoyingly missed a photo of this on Monday whilst I was parked outside Saltmeadows waiting for 4708 to leave. Noticed to late that it was shunting around the yard.

A very sad tragic accident, I knew Bob well, he was a nice guy.
I remember his daughter telling me that he loved driving the the 638 route, back then it went from Ryton to Sunderland.

A beast which sadly likes the human spine a bit too much.

I would say he is hinting at it getting preserved. No other reason why it would say 'forever' I don't think?

That's the plan hopefully.

Yes, A small group of enthusiast's ( Including me ) want to purchase a Solar for Preservation ( More likely a earlier model ) and 4935 is one of our target's.
Its just a plan atm, But I hope to make it a reality when the time comes for them to go.

If its not a earlier model 49** , It will be a later 52** .

Thanks for clarifying that.

If I was to preserve one of them Scanias, I would try and purchase one of;
4926, 4934, 4944, 4949, 5219, 5227 or 5230.

Guessed so! There are some really nice solars so that would be great. Never been on 4935 but I'm guessing that is a nicer one.

Wonder if GNE would be willing to donate one like?

Aye, I agree that there's a lot of Solar's that are nice. But there's some that are pretty bad too haha.

Wouldn't be expecting them to Donate one, But by the time there withdrawn they'll not cost much really considering most will be fit for Scrap by then.

4929,4930,31 and 35 or 4949 are the earlier ones outlined, 5214,20,21 or 30 are the later ones outlined if the purchase of a 49** isn't successful.

The list can change of course Wink

4936 and 5207 are also two Scanias I'd like to preserve.
