I believe that the IC125 set that went down from NCL - SUN was a trial, and it was a success.

VTEC's map shows Sunderland as getting the new route from the December timetable changes.

Have just seen a VTEC liveried train heading north at Chester 5 mins ago. Is this one of the ones Marcus gave the diagrams for earlier or has another been done?

Just a thought: the Newcastle-Sunderland line isn't electrified, is it?

If not, and assuming Virgin EC decide to definitely start services serving Sunderland, chances are they'll use HSTs on them, as the IC225 sets require electrification, don't they?

If they do use HSTs, I'll certainly be using those services every now and then!

I reckon Class 43s will look epic in the new Coca-Cola livery. Big Grin

Aye the HSTs are doing them runs.

One early-morning and a later-evening one too.

Oh I see, so not one every couple of hours or so? Or will two services a day just be a trial?

From December 2015, they will operate the route as part as their network. It's not a trial, lets call it a "Commuter Express", GC are very grumpy about VTEC operating on their "turf"! Smile

There was a test that ran from NCL - SUN in February (22nd?) using an HST set.

Hope this helps Marcus Smile
