Probably because you don't know them? You even said that you can't find t the headcodes a train will be operating until the morning you are looking for it:

Yes, but...
91128 terminates at Ferme Park XFD tonight. 
In the morning it could be either
Train 1: 5S06/1S06
Or 
Train 3: 5S09/1S09
Which are both booked for Electric. 

It's not rocket science to find out yourself.
I waited for the delayed VTEC train and have bagged loads of water,coke and crisps off Last Night as the train was stuck on the ECML last night and the WiFi is complimentary for the whole journey in Standard.
Allocation has changed due to the diverts, 91128 is on Leeds diagrams today.

Rail replacement coaches have been deployed Edinburgh to Carlisle - there won't be another train service until 12:52, and even this is subject to change...

Good morning, 91128 will be working the following services today with set BN09:-
1S06, 07;30 KGX - EDB.
1G38, 12:46 EDB - KGX.
1D27, 18:33 KGX - Bradford.

DVT 82209, with set BN04
1A01, 05:05 LDS - KGX.
1S09, 09:00 KGX - EDB.
1E19, 14:30 EDB - KGX.
1N32, 19:30 KGX - NCL.
VTEC have launched the first HST refurb.

I'm heading VTEC first class in a few weeks on a booked-HST run from KGX. Hopefully will get a newly refurbished set! See how it compares to Grand Central's 180 refurb. 

By the way - does anyone know how the platforming works at Sunderland for the VTEC departure/arrival? I can't help but think the train would be too long to fit as the 6-coach GC set just fits.

Not looking forward to leather, when suited and booted for work on a hot day!

I think I asked a question re platform allocations a while back and whether it would be on a north or southbound platform (despite heading north).
Seeing GC use both, depending on which side the Metro is approaching from, may have an impact - if one is due.

GC have used Ryhope Junction as a holding point in the past. I wonder if VTEC may use that.

According to Real Time Trains (http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/b...12/29/0500), the service uses Platform 3, which is the Airport-bound Metro platform. The photograph citaro5284 uploaded above would suggest that it stretches up towards Platform 4, which is the platform Northern Rail services use during the day.

Having used the 0544 Metro previously, I know that this service used to use Platform 3, as it terminated in Park Lane on the platform towards Airport rather than South Hylton. It appears, assuming RTT is correct, that this service now uses Platform 2 (as it does during the day).

I had a look on the Virgin app last night and it suggested it arrived into P2. It would make sense so that trains to/from Park Lane can use P4/3; thus the VTEC set not blocking the Park Lane pathway.

Looking closely at Real Time Trains and a quick work out shows just before the Station from the Newcastle direction, The VTEC HST will crossover at the points in the tunnel and straight into platform 3/4 ( Takes up both platforms ) for a quick boarding and turnaround before a simple departure in the Newcastle direction, without blocking the path for 2I10 ( Park Lane Metro ) which will like the rest of the day will use platform 2 and a quick crossover into the Airport bound platform at Park Lane over the points, ready for a quick turnaround back to the Airport.
VTEC currently have a sale on seats for travel up until 23rd March (with a few dates not included). 200,000 seats from £5 each way on sale until 9pm on Friday 8th.

VTEC have been operating their Anglo-Scottish services via the Durham Coast Line this weekend. Nice to see a candy cane fly through Seaham this afternoon!

Also: I know the 91s are of the wrong gauge for the shared Metro track - are the 220/221s of Cross Country, too?

They aren't the Pantograph just has to be tied down.

A few Evening Edinburgh Diagrams tonight were formed of 91s and Mk4s with 67008 dragging the 1655 departure from York

220s are Compatible not sure about 221s though with the different bogie type might affect the route availability, Back in the days of Virgin Crosscountry in 2003 a 220 had to make a emergency diversion over the Durham Coast.
