Ah I assumed they had turned left out of the bus lane at wreckenton but maybe they had to go the long way round to get to bus stop. that would explain it. Cheers
After complain to GNE a while ago I was assured that they would no long turn hourly services a Gateshead leaving customers stranded in NEwcastle. I even have it in writing.... but guess what happened to the 29 to town on Monday afternoon.......
Some disruption in Newcastle with this run thing going on. Buses toward newcastle from gateshead were running via redhaugh bridge but thats now closed due to police incident.
Wouldn't fancy the walk from the university library to the three bulls either if i was alighting the 307/309
Due to the temporary closure of John Dobson Street South (Northbound) GNE services are using Durant Road and it's so much quicker than the John Dobson St route.

Yep, I was surprised how fast we got to the 5 Swans, this morning.
Surely GNE should consider this as a new routing for all buses going into Eldon Square
why am i so silly ofc they wont

Be a bad move imo, as you lose the bus stop on John Dobson Street, which when the new HMRC etc open it'll be quite an important stop.

It's quicker because on that route as you're passing through only three sets of traffic lights rather than five sets going the JDS way.
Why did they stop using Pilgrim Street?

Was that not when they stopped using Blacklett Street to head into Eldon Square

Thinking back before the Pilgrim street work closed it off, only some services went that way, anyhow eg X10.
The council wanted to close Blackett Street off to all buses so John Dobson Street became a permanent replacement to Blackett Street.
Newcastle City Council are trialling the closure of Barrack Road post match for Newcastle's August 9th friendly to support safe movement of supporters
if succesful it'll be fully implemented after each home game meaning Barrack Road will be closed for up to 45 minutes at the end of the every game.
Stagecoach haven't released diversion details yet but the X50 will pick up at the City Gate building at the top of St James Boulevard

Even though its in front of the Stagecoach Head Office, there's SOD all on their X.
Looks like a Stagecoach bus has been involved, E300, which was on the 23 - 27771 - stopped tracking at around 4pm - https://bustimes.org/vehicles/stws-27771.../761928316
16 went via Tesco - https://bustimes.org/vehicles/scne-28014.../761970014
Tho tbf it was only one stop missed and if you were stood there, it'd have been pretty obvious buses weren't going round anytime soon. Being right outside the depot, there would've been staff to ask about alternatives.

Ye but come on, are you sure people will use their common sense? - however - what if someone wanted that stop, were buses stopping at the stop on Dundas street, where the 23 stops?
It would be annoying, having to get the bus back over
People can't even press the bell these days and then moan the driver missed their stop!

We were serving Dundas Street, and most drivers (myself included) would've mentioned it before the last stop before the diversion, or if not, would've mentioned stopping at Dundas St.
As a rule, unless explicitly said otherwise, Stagecoach serve all stops on diversions.

Point being tonight Netherby Drive in Fenham is a no go zone as their ripping up the roads and the 36/63 are both diverted along Two Ball Lonnen and Stamfordham Road. I saw the 36 pick someone up and the 63 I was on stopped at the top of Cowgate.
I was not expecting this but glad passengers were picked up/dropped off where they needed to be
Think this diversion is for a week or something for resurfacing works on evenings
