If I remember right, Jimmi had footage/photos of some too.
Video of one of their examples:

IIRC it was 2+2 plastic seating on the lower level, then a more bulky fabric affair in a 2+3 layout.
A pic from an example belonging to Bains Coaches (can't remember the layout of seats on this one especially as it was during COVID and the rear of the bus was restricted to school/college students.

The school spec BMC Condors that were used on scholars in West Yorkshire are certainly an odd experience as a passenger:

The Versas Borders Buses and PCL Travel got for Wooler contracts had a slightly odd layout too.
Arriva North East's Temsa Avenue's are certainly up there too, for this country at least.

That's ringing bells.
That picture of the Condor is very similar to the Brylaine examples. Just has a consistent pattern/moquette.

I think the layout varied slightly on theirs from one example to another going off what someone was telling me at time, was the only one I rode with them and that Bains example was I think the other other one I've been on (that afternoon with Bains when they still went into Aberdeen was interesting, went from a BMC Falcon:
https://flic.kr/p/2jJRWuG - to a King Long:
https://flic.kr/p/2jJVwzn - to a Merc Breadvan... thing?!:
https://flic.kr/p/2jJVw3q)
I remember travelling on that King Long from Aberdeen to Dyce, I was much bemused by them using 2 window panes to replace 1 window. Oddly their coach fleet is in much better condition, seems the bus stuff was an afterthought.
The 2+2 seating in the front of the vehicle and 3+2 towards the rear used to be quite common on mid engined single deckers until the mid 90s.
Preserved Dennis Javelin F135SPX shows an example of it.

Yeah, there were some slight differences between their fleet.
Perks of acquiring second hand stuff.
Rode them quite often (including the Solo's) over a period and wish I'd made more of a note of the differences at the time.
Don't think I ever got to ride any of their deckers unfortunately.
I always remember one of the fleet losing 20mins or so between Lincoln and Coningsby. Despite there being no diversions, roadworks or traffic.
Clearly underpowered or knackered.
There may be something in the bus outings thread or East Mids section of the forum that I posted at the time.
Some reading buses i think E400MMC have side seats upstairs
did some of the nothere double deckers mcw?? from around 1980 had a single seat with back to window if i remember rightly

I'm not sure about MCW, but I remember the Bristol VRs having 3 single seats on the upstairs front near side and a treble front seat on the off side in front of the stairwell
6177,78,79,81 appear to be working from Deptford today

Some of the early mk2's had a single seat upstairs, behind the stairs.

I knew something had them on that I used to use, couldn't think what it was but that's the answer. Used to like that as it was a foot rest for the Urban 90's which made them slightly more bearable.
Least they had the nice Voice retarder that used to have a nice sound - much nicer than the equivilant Enviro's nowadays similar with the Commanders. It's a shame we didn't get more of both.
I've always found the 1-2 seating configuration towards the front of Arriva Pulsars 1513-1523 to be rather unusual. I think the HW07 Citaros that GNE used to have had a similar seating configuration.
Same with the side facing seats over the rear wheel arches that Arriva's ex-London DAF ALX400s had (as well as the Y-reg Lowlanders to a lesser extent).

The stairs being in the middle were the bigger problem, design flaw imo as it meant boarding was horribly long. Was a problem in London aswell since everyone boards the bus at the front. It was scrapped in the next batch of them and it gave a right weird layout. They only seated 17 people downstairs in their original layout because of it and were dark imo.
Believe the earliest version of GoAhead's Presidents were the same which got scrapped pretty fast aswell.
Tell you what did have nasty seats, Arrivas Darts, was it 1751 onwards, they had really thin horrible uncomortable seats, used to dread them turning up on the then 343/344, 350/351, M55

Didn't the Darts just have Civic V3's like everything else bar 1799 which had Urban 90's. The ones beforehand having old bench seating - they must've been some of the last buses in the country to get them aswell as they were pretty much out then.
Edit: Just checked and it appears the W Reg ones, 1751 - 1757 had them aswell, foul seats. They weren't based at Blyth so never got them so be how I missed them.

Im not too sure tbh, i just know they had thin ironingboard seats, nasty things they were

I haven't been on them but yeah they are I believe. Everything in London got them around 2009/10 until they changed their mind as people were moaning. They're vandal proof supposedly, but I guess if you have nothing to burn they always will be.

Shouldn't this be on the Arriva page?

Wonder how much public money is going to be wasted repainting and refurbing all these buses?

Why is it a waste of public money?
The repainting and refurbishment is a requirement of the BEE network contract, contract conditions set by a public body and the Mayor.
