They're struggling to run the full service as it is without a PVR increase due to vehicle shortages hence the B7 being there.
I've heard in January that Ashington is to be getting some Pulsars to kill of the solos on the 57/A due to many reasons. Wouldn't shock me that the ALX400 at Durham transfer up to Ashington to see the 1&2/57/A to stop using the E400/MMC

Any idea where they are getting the Pulsars from?

Believe it'll be released from elsewhere in the North East or could be from elsewhere. I know Ashington want rid of the solos now

That wouldn't surprise me, let's be honest they were probably sick when they first turned up as they've been useless since day one, as an understatement.
Not going to lie, I was kind of thinking 7510/11/12 might've turned up, even known they're shot to bits. Arguably better than nothing though.
Having Puslars on the 57/67a would be great, at times those services get very busy with a Solo, though not busy enough to justify a double decker.

I know it won't happen and don't particularly want them either but if anything the 67 Plate Streetlite's would probably be the best thing to get up here since they're 70cm shorter which would help massively on Tillmouth Avenue where the full length singles are a bit of a problem.
Would help Darlington out aswell since they're too small and the 1/5 probably deserve some new investment in the future anyway or whatever they're actually meant to be on lately. I'm not sure what's actually meant to be on there nowadays since 7 of them went to Durham.

They've got multiple vehicles back from long term VOR this week, indeed 7427 was available but not required today.
1513 returned to service this week with a new engine, and I believe 1537 and 7545 are also due back with new engines imminently. 7532 also returned after being off for a while.
7548 is at Durham, having been there in the summer to be fixed only to give up after a trip to Alniwck on the X20 on its return. I imagine that's the one that's furthest off a return.
Nothing was actually transferred away when the services were cut, merely placed into reserve, so on paper they should be fine for Monday.

I think it's fairly safe to say that won't be happening, 7427 is there as a temporary measure only until they have enough double deck vehicles.

I'm sure Redcar/Whitby or Stockton will take the Solo's. They'll take any scrap from anywhere. Especially Redcar. If it sounds bad and is barely roadworthy but still drives, they'll use it.

Yeah that makes sense then, didn't realise things had improved a bit as it was a looking pretty dire even a week ago.
Had a feeling they might have sent 7510/11/12 or whatever ones are staying up here and aren't going to Yorkshire. Don't believe they're actively doing anything right now.
Obviously no use for the expresses but they could potter around on the 1/2/57/57A.
7510/7511/7512 cant go to Yorkshire, 7511 got sent back, too tall.
Its been suggested 7514 might go in its place instead.
7401 as entered sevice at whitby on the 9.36 x93

I seen that. I'm surprised they threw it on a X93 straight away instead of a 94 which they must want to be testing it on the full route. It's good to see it back out after around a year and 3/4 though. I don't know if it is anymore but it was classed as the flagship decker for the X93/94

Lasted the day to so massive improvement for it

No it didn’t last the day it broke down after Guisborough on the 18.25 X93 to Whitby from Middlesbrough.
(03 Nov 2024, 4:21 pm)Mark66t wrote [ -> ]How do u know that??
It stopped and kept tracking at Lockwood Beck for 47 Mins and then stopped tracking completely so it must have had some sort of fault.

Rumours circulating that some/all of the E400 MMCs down at Redcar are returning to Ashington for the winter, with 7609/10 acting as spares to 7401-6 on the X93.

Yes but these are just loans to help out due to Ashington struggling apparently with buses been vor
7517 finally arrived at Darlington today and was in the process of getting debranded this evening and application of new style fleetnames

Surprised at the move to be fair, considering their all knackered down in Redcar and 7609/10 should be nowhere near it.
Mind there's no-where else for them really unless they got E6 mods which would be a waste.

Redcar need two deckers spare for the x93 incase of a b9 starts acting up plus 7610 is far the best one 09 is up and down

I was on a blyth db300 and ho god that was knackered proper struggling for speed coming out of Newcastle

That and the deckers last year often were used on the 62 when it changed to start at redcar. Though do feel it should now come back to new Marske as the x2 isn't always reliable
So what is off the road at Ashington which is has made them in need of the MMC's back?

And failed to proceed on its first day in service coming out of Durham gate

There supposed to be a permanent transfer unless some changes have happened who knows
Today x93
7401 off 7404
7405 02 03 06 10 on the x93

I don't have any clue but if they're there for a while I wouldn't be surprised if it's to do the following:
7578-82: X21/X22/35
1462/97, 1538/39: 57/57A
2852/53/54/7427: Tin Cans
There was someone saying the Solo's are going soon so would work until next Spring when they have something else to bring in and they're desperate to be withdrawn. Did notice the 57A allocation was fully saloon yesterday aswell which is unusual for a Sunday and the Newcastle expresses really should be deckers not singles.

Apparently 7578 79 80 81 are just loan as there be need at whitby next summer

Aye plenty time to find something to go into Ashington next Spring though. If they're here all winter, no point hanging onto the Solo's which are hopeless for drivers, engineers and passengers as no-one likes them.
Btw speaking of Solo's does anyone know what's going on with the two Solo SR's down at Redcar which I assume will be seeing off the old Solo's down there aswell?

God knows with the SR's. It seems like they have been having faults already. Redcar are nearly as bad as Ashington at the moment. 1433, 1436, 1449, 3052, 3053, 4706, 4707, 4718, 7401 (Again, after just returning), 7404 & 7609 all off the road. 1472 from Stockton and 2866 are filling in at Redcar. The Solos from Ashington to Redcar maybe a good idea for a move (even though they're apparently rubbish). Redcar loves their scraps xD
