News/Pictures/Discussion regarding Phoenix Coaches to be posted here.

Aha! News already.

On 26th December 2012, Phoenix Coaches will operate service 53A for [from what I can make out] one day only. It is a service between North Shields and Cramlington and goes via the world.

Soo, if any of you are hardcore bus enthusiasts like me who have nothing to do on Boxing Day, you've got yourself something planned now! Big Grin
53A I spoke of in the OP:

I didn't know at the time of the OP that the 53A was an Arriva service, and Nexus had paid for this service to be operated rather than no service to run at all!
If it helps, MV07EXU is usually used on the 333 Ferrylink but if its un available then NJ11EXJ is usually used. They did have an E200 demo in use a few months ago. Don't forget the Byker ASDA services run with the Asda Solo. They also run the A2 in Ashington, 845 in Blyth and probably a few others I've forgotten Smile
Changes have been advertised on Nexus' website that show Phoenix Coaches' services A1/A2/A3 have a revised route.

A1
via Shopping Park , Shields Road A193, Millers Road, Union Road, Bothal Street, Allendale Road B1314, Chatsworth Gardens, Staines Road, Walker Road, A186, Ford Street, Byker Bank B1312, Albion Row, St Michael’s Road, Commercial Road, Raby Way, Conyers Road, Union Road, Fossway A187, Shopping Park.

A2
via Shopping Park , Shields Road A193, Millers Road, Union Road, Bothal St, Welbeck Road, Morton St, Benson Road, Roman Avenue, St Anthony’s Road, Wharrier Street, Scrogg Road, Walker Road A186, Church Street, Greenford Road, Dovercourt Road, Greenford Road, Oldfield Road, Burwood Road, Pottery Bank, Felling View, Belmont Street, Walker Road A186, Scrogg Road, Wharrier Street, St Anthony’s Road, Roman Avenue, Benson Road, Morton St, Welbeck Road, Bothal St, Union Road, Fossway A187, Shopping Park.

A3
via Shopping Park, Shields Road A193, Millers Road, Union Road, Conyers Road, Corbridge Road, Brinkburn Street, Shields Road, Heaton Road, Denmark Street, Shields Road, Fossway A187, Shopping Park.

The timetable - effective from 4th March - is available here

HV07 EXU Pheonix Coaches Nexus Branded Optare Solo on the 333 to Tynemouth Park Hotel
That's perfectly normal, and the reg is MV07EXU Smile the white one, NJ11EXJ tends to be used on the 845 in Blyth
New here recently is MPD KX06LXO which has been operating the Byker Asda free buses, though I reckon it's only a loan vehicle.
Phoenix Coaches' "ASDA Rider" branded 905 (MX57CBF) "Janet Patricia" saw unusual use on North Shields Ferry service 333 today.
Anyone have any idea what was on the Byker ASDA shuttle instead of 905?

Unless they have obtained use of an outstation somewhere, that is some dead mileage!

Wonder what vehicle they will use?

Cheers Daniel!
Lots of van based 'buses' there.

To anwer the question posed previously and keeping with the theme created by a previous incumbent of the 23, I guess Pheonix will put another can based 'bus' on the 23 Wink
First day of Phoenix ops on the 23.

I'm laid up with the man flu so I haven't seen what is opping it

Phoenix are using a very tidy Optare Solo M1020 in Phoenix livery with registration NJ11EXJ on the 23.

Do Phoenix still run the evening Northumberland Park to North Shields 19? If so, that might be where it goes after - although that's still a long way to go!

Wrong colour but a bus with a destination blind on the 11.24 from Barley Mow is a refreshing change.

Very true! Compass will not be missed

Saw it heading around the Eighton Lodge roundabout yesterday - it seemed long!
Is it a long wheelbased Solo?

It is the long (M1020) version of the Solo and does stand out from other Solo's that you normally see due to its long body.
I was at a Community Event in Barley Mow this morning and have heard nothing but absolute praise for Phoenix and the helpfulness and attitude of their drivers. I've encouraged the people I spoke to, to contact Nexus as they were very quick to complain about Compass, credit where credit is due

The driver I get on the 333 if I use it is a very friendly driver! - When you get on you always get a ''Good Afternoon'' or a ''Hi'' and the vehicles are spotless, very clean and comfortable! - Phoenix are one of the best independent companies in the North East, I think!

I caught a Photo of the Solong Today at The Galleries on the 12:15pm Departure and there were 11 Passengers on in Total and probs would of picked up a few more at Sainsbury's. Must bare in mind they were all OAP's.
One of my colleagues has posted on the Nexus forum this afternoon and got a response thanking him for his praise

How do they work the dead mileage to Barley Mow though? Saying that Stanley must run dead for 7 miles from Stanley to Birtley but its incomparable to Phoenix 27 miles out from Blyth to Barley Mow
