I can't see Versa's being allocated to the 28/28A, I don't think they'd last 5 minutes! I think Citaro's would be ideal for the Waggonway service's.

I don't think they've ever had new vehicles on them. When the Omnicites first arrived at Stanley they ended up on the 709/728, about as close to new as you'll get on the route.
Can't imagine it's a priority for GNE. Just look at how long it took for the deadly DAFs to go.
Imagine the Angel will get a rebrand too, it won't be 'green' as such anymore!
Wistfully stuck in the 90s

Iirc, the last time they received new vehicle's was when the Prestige's were bought in 1998!

Weren't they second hand too. Ex Airport stuff? Don't think the 28s were around in 98. Would have been the 733,709,728,721 mix then

Gonna take a stab in th dark and say the Delta's. Think the Gxxx RTY batch were allocated for a period for the 709/728.

More than the 721 Davie lad.
There was about 3 routes merged together when they created the 28.
Chester - Strange Villa.
Strange Villa - Eighton Lodge.
Eighton Lodge - Newcastle. (The only bit in common with the 721).

RE: Go North East: 2016/17 Financial Year Order Predictions
The green arrow could be next in line for investment I think - the Solars on there are some of the worst so possibly some Streetlites for them.
Angel is also a good shout and then the B5s can go on either the Coaster or Crusader releasing the Citaros for the Tynedale Express, Cats Fast X35 and Waggonway.
Can also see the 2s getting new buses as the Versas on there are deffo some of the worst - Versas could then possibly go on the 82 and 82A or if enough also the 85 and 86.Solos wouldn't be big enough for the 82s I don't think.
Then finally maybe a couple of Solos for the 18 to get rid of the MPDs. Wouldn't be many left if Versas also replaced them on the 85/86.

Just off the top of my head, wasn't there the 721, 722, 725, 726, 728, 729, 777? Possible even a couple more.

Just me who wouldn't be totally surprised if the Volvo B5LH's stayed on the 21?

Loads more 7xx services.
Off the top of my head - along Durham and Old Durham Road you had the 709, 723, 733 and 735. Also the 231.
There was also the OK 724 and 727.
United had the X46 in addition to their shared services.

No I'm with you on that, but they need a refurb and they sound absolutely awful.
The 21 is impossible to get wrong...a decent reliable double decker and a decent weekend frequency. I say impossible, until the Hybrids, GNE did a fantastic job of hugely screwing it up

To me, the Omnicities wouldn't be able cope on the X35.
