If I was to preserve one of them Scanias, I would try and purchase one of;
4926, 4934, 4944, 4949, 5219, 5227 or 5230.

I would get 5218 or 4932

(12 Oct 2016, 7:41 pm)NK06JXC wrote 4936 and 5207 are also two Scanias I'd like to preserve.

I had 4936 on the X36 recently and it was vile, I would avoid that one Wink

I've not been on either of them recently, I'll have to try them down and have a ride one a couple of them.

Wouldn't be expecting them to Donate one, But by the time there withdrawn they'll not cost much really considering most will be fit for Scrap by then.

4929,4930,31 and 35 or 4949 are the earlier ones outlined, 5214,20,21 or 30 are the later ones outlined if the purchase of a 49** isn't successful.

The list can change of course  Wink

Good luck with it! It will cost loads to maintain them I would think though! How many of you are planning to buy it like? Wouldn't be so bad if there are a few of you splitting the cost I guess.

I'm sure members of the forum including me would hopefully be willing to donate something if you can't raise enough too

Thanks  Smile Just the one I'm planning to buy, L94s are canny reliable machine's if maintained good so hopefully that will happen if one gets bought.

Nothings confirmed or anything yet, I'll let you know if anything's going to happen when the time comes for them to be withdrawn.

Thank you for the generosity

You will still be looking at a few thousand, as they will want close to the book value or at least the scrap value for the vehicle. You then have the ongoing cost of storage on top of the initial outlay.

Id predict they'll be around the same value as the Lolyne's ( Earliest Models ) when they leave, Which was around £5000.

Think some B10s went to Ensign for quite a bit less than £5,000, around £3,000 I heard. Would hazard a guess at an L94UB raking in a similar amount, but prices can and will change.

The price for a Lolyne is £2,500.

That excludes the tyre prices etc

Talk of preserving a 2001 bus...way to feel old.

I find Solars completely characterless, run of the mill uninteresting vehicles.

For better candidates for preservation....but alas, kids today!

Along with any fuel, taxes and replacement parts. Not forgetting the need for someone to drive (or even shunt) the thing, as well as actually carrying out the maintenance.

Wish them all the luck in the world, with what is a very ambitious idea.

Hello.

I know A little about bus preservation. Wile not wanting to put anyone off there is A lot of things that you NEED in place before you even get your bus to preserve.

First thing is the cost of your bus. Your looking at around £3,500 for A Y reg Scania L94. That's the book price. The 52 reg ones £9,to 11K.

Next is you need A place to put it. Undercover storage will put you back around £60 to £80 A month. Then you have the restoration budget. For A Scania L94 Wright Solar I would say your looking at around £2000. That will get you the retrim and paint to restore it inside and out.

Then your looking at getting the work done if you cannot do it yourself. The NNRG charge £60 per hour. Others I know charge more.

After you have restored it you need the running costs to pay. Tax £130 for 6 months. MOT £60. Insurance and breakdown £300.

Didn't realise the upper deck back seats on Omnidekkas were different. Plus 6130 has different types of seating moquettes throughout. Also there are 3 Levantes parked up at the front of Riverside. 2 national express the other plain white

I was confused once about this, but they don't. The only part of the flat-pack assembly of the streetlites not installed!

I automatically thought they did considering they run to Metrocentre and it's a popular service with newish buses plus the 05 plate 100 vehicles have wifi
