South Tyneside/Sunderland Service Changes

Boldon to Sunderland Interchange - arrives at 10:20 bu then doesn't do the next section  - Sunderland Interchange to Low Moorsley, York Street until 11:01am.

But going from the Low Moorsley - it runs straight through.
One of Stagecoach's routes (might be the 3?) does this at Fawcett Street in one direction only on evenings and I never quite understood it.

Ye, I think its due to running time or they would have to add an extra bus in.

Service 3 runs from Farringdon to town and interworks with the service 20 to Pennywell and back to town. Farringdon - Town 3 - Pennywell - Town 20 - Hylton Castle 3 (evenings only)

I mentioned this yesterday, I’m thinking it could be to interwork with the 61?

Looking at the 50 to Marsden timetable it seems like that the 'abandoned' bus stop next to the Dunes car park and the haven point will not be used. Shame they are still updating the adverts on that bus stop with no buses using it. Would be nice to see a service use it so it doesnt look out of place for something that hasnt been used since the Councils sightseeing bus went round there

Those bus stops (and any with adverts) aren't managed by Nexus. They're managed by I believe Clear Channel in return for getting the adverts (not sure if there's more money paid).

It's why bus stops with adverts only exist on trunk roads and are usually better maintained aswell.
RE: South Tyneside/Sunderland Service Changes
Just had a look at the stands in Park Lane, when changes happen:

Stand A: X6/Metro replacement
Stand B: 22/23 (Arriva)
Stand C: 61? - No 61A timetable as of yet - would imagine it'll be on stand and the 61 timetable has a error... would imagine, same stand C?
Stand D: 20 (18:49 19:17 19:53 20:23 20:53 21:23 21:53 22:23 22:58 23:58) 60
Stand E: 20 (Daytime)
Stand F: 9
Stand G: 700
Stand H: 700
Stand J: 2/2A/39/39A/39B towards Pennywell (1 run for the 39B)
Stand K: 8/8A/78/81
Stand L: 20/X20
Stand M: 35 (Towards Low Moorsley)
Stand N: X1 (Stagecoach)
Stand P: 35/35A (Towards Boldon) 935/136
Stand Q: 24
Stand R:
Stand S:
Stand T: 56
Stand V:

The 20 is all over, at least 3 different stands at certain times... so confusing.

Why the 39 hasn't been brought into Park Lane going to Washington/Doxford Park from Stand NI will never know. And why the 9 hasn't been moved to S or R and the 39 towards Pennywell & 2/2a towards Washington hasn't been moved into Stand F I will never know.

And the 35 should be in Stand N, with X20 being moved to Stand M.

38 will use Stand A. Also those 20 stands are terminating and going onto the 60, so I'd imagine the 60 will come around to Stand L.

I'm sure I read ages ago, NEXUS charge the companies - so that's probs the reason why. they aren't going in both ways... also saves time too, if they only go in the bus station one way.

I do agree though, they should be going in both ways.

Atleast the 39 towards Doxford Should go to Stand N!

I don't get why X20 doesn't have its own stand. Park Lane will be dead.

I would be intrested to see how much they charge, I wish Stagecoach came into Park lane.

But I think how you get in Park Lane or the bus station itself needs to be re-thought.

Its out of the way, a wind tunnel a nightmare to get to.

I see the 39's arent serving Vine Place towards Doxford, bit of fair walk from Stockton Road to The Bridges, Fawcett Street, etc...

Nexus charge for every bus departing a bus station they manage, and probably why Stagecoach dont serve many bus stations in either Newcastle or Sunderland.

I am guessing if you are really interested in how much they charge, you could try a FOI request.

The 20 is going to do a loop around the back of the old Civic Centre, that's why it's down as stopping at those stands.

It’s a little strange that the 20 is serving 2 stands in the bus station when the 2 & 39 groups don’t serve any. Having said that, the whole loop around Burdon Road/Vine Place is a bit odd all together.

What is the reason for this?
I'm going to start a thread about serving a bus station twice.

Service 20 will arrive from Priestman roundabout to Stockton Rd drop off on stand E for passengers wanting Park Lane then commence return journey to Durham from Burdon Rd then Holmside for anyone wanting the city centre then continue to Park Lane stand L for passengers to board for Durham

Are people that desperate for connections, that they cant wait the 5-10 or so minutes extra it would take to serve burdon road and holmeside.

Tbh, given most services out of Park Lane are, or are going to be, half hourly, it could well be the difference between a quick connection and a 30+ minute wait.
