Go North East - Second-hand vehicle acquisitions

Do you actually have any idea how much it costs to fully refurbish a bus?

In fairness, if bus operators actually bothered to do full refurbs, then people wouldn't care about the age. It's a good way to prolong the length of a bus. Arriva used to be pretty good in that regard, the Wright B7's which came from London felt like new buses pretty much and apart from the number plate at the front, most people wouldn't have a clue.

It's very different to sitting on a First, GoAhead London, Brighton and Hove or whatever other scruffy rubbish is floating around with GoNorthEast.

Transdev and Wellglade are very good at this, aswell.

So are Lynx I remember seeing a photo of a G1, it was a 04/54 Plate and it looked about 2 years old, it was immaculate, posted it somewhere ages ago

Here it is,looks amazing for a nearly 20 year old bus. Wouldnt mind older buses if they all looked like this

Looks good that, think Reading buses done that as some form of test with Bus and Coach, if I'm right there's befores and afters here: http://jordnatransportphotographs.blogsp...s-530.html

You'd never know it's an ex Arriva DLA from London though.

Tbf even looking closer at home, the Cobalt Clipper refurbs were decent, much of an improvement over the exact same Fab 56 lot with it's reupholstered seats only that clash as an understatement, it's a shame the refurbs got scrapped tbh. One of the few decent things before Covid.

The latest - and final - three are:
  • DOE3 (6974) ex Oxford, albeit not used there
  • DOE22 (6975) ex Oxford, albeit not used there
  • DOE24 (6976) ex Swindon

These replace the three which were initially loaned to East Yorkshire (6968, 6969, 6971) which have now been permanently transferred to Hull.

No, they were intentionally allocated 6974-76, as the numbers 6968/69/71 have technically already been used (despite the fact they never formally entered service at GNE).

So we'll never get a chance to ride 6969

Do the Olympus’ not have NSA equipment fitted?
RE: Go North East - Second-hand vehicle acquisitions
Just seen this, about the Stagecoach takeover at Queens, and the cascades...

MX58s, BN61s, Shuttles, Scanias to SC
E400s, some evosetis and the newest B7s to Heywood
Rest of the B7s and evos for storage
Rest spread between different opcos such as Konectbus, Plymouth, EYMS, GNE...

Looks like GNE getting more 2nd hand crap.. or is it the crap, what's already here?

RE: Go North East - Second-hand vehicle acquisitions
I was on a second hand B7 from EYMS I think, and the ticket machine had a metal chain around it, presumably due to lack of assault screen or sufficient fixings?
Didn’t look great.

Only thing I could see GNE taking is 14reg E400's 3101-06 / 15/16/66reg E200's 4011-19 & 14reg Streetlites 6001-10 if these are available for cascade, would see off the remaining oldest Omnidekka's and potentially some of the 10/11reg Versa's.

Would imagine it's also dependent on what other ops want/require, East Yorkshire will likely need to source more buses (most likely more E200s) soon as they've won some tendered services in North Yorkshire from April.

14 reg E400s are staying at GNW.
RE: Go North East - Second-hand vehicle acquisitions
I have noticed on bus times fleet list that 6188 is now back with Go North East. However it is still in GNW livery so I would assume it has gone for re paint before entering service again

Fleet livery, I'd imagine same as dual door E400s . Difference being fleet number allocations as there going into 6300s rather than 6900s
