Arriva North East: Rare & Odd Workings - November 2014

RE: Arriva North East - Rare and Odd Workings
(12 Nov 2014, 2:17 pm)Jimmi wrote Belmont have 1476 on the 7 for the third day in a row and Darlington have joined in the non Sapphire fun by allocating 1508 on the run in front of 1476.

Just seen 4007 at Harrowgate Hill but didn't see what service it was on, I'm guessing 1/5.

This is because one has been involved in a incident and one was away for test/maintenance
RE: Arriva North East - Rare and Odd Workings
X66 all over the place again today with at least two Pulsars (1426 and 1410 I think) as well as a Solo. Meanwhile 4711 was also on the X93.
RE: Arriva North East - Rare and Odd Workings
Been told standard Pulsar 1439 was on X3/X3a today at Redcar

One of the Streetlites is off with accident damage.

..and, as usual, there's been an original Arriva liveried Pulsar on 22s today as well as an original Arriva liveried Solo on 23s today.

Have seen several X21s/22s/23s today, and I must say that the 23 has been performing best out of the three. I've seen tops of 5 on the X21s (from a rough head count as the bus has gone up/down Ryhope Road), so really not overly impressive. Could this just be down to the timings in and out of Peterlee (I think cbma06 has suggested similar in the past)?

Not sure about today, but certainly every other day this week, there's been a Streetlite running between Belmont and the bus station, too.

I'm surprised the driver training is taking this long... We're almost approaching three weeks since these buses were launched on service 23, yet one has been missing every single day.
I thought Durham had them for a while before they were pushed into service, too?

I think it could be as the 23 leaves Peterlee Bus Station at 08, 38 mins past and the 21 arrives at 38 minutes past and the X21 leaves at 42 minutes past, so I imagine people in Peterlee Bus Station are just jumping on the first bus that turns up which will be the 23.

Leaving Park Lane it is sandwiched between the 22 and 23 so again people just jumping on the first bus that's there when they turn up.

Hope numbers on the X21 improve.

I guess the 23 will be on most of their rotas so it'll take a while to get through most of the drivers. Half of Stocktons still haven't been trained on our Streetlites but it doesn't really matter as they're stuck on the Sapphire run all of the time.

I'm still convinced it's being used as a crew shuttle. One of the trips towards the bus station I noticed yesterday, was driven by someone in orange overalls. There were 3 others on board, yet no one on the return trip, but the guy in overalls.

Unless it's simply a case of killing two birds with one stone, I can't see the effectiveness of doing the training on a quick circular trip, where the buses should never even travel when in service.

I saw one heading down the A690 heading in the direction of Sunderland around 1115 yesterday morning being driven by someone in orange overalls.

Knowing the problems they're having with them I wouldn't mind betting the fitters are changing them over, happened regularly with ours in the first month or two! Still having problems with them now as 1450 was on 5/5A today... Worth mentioning that 7477 was on X1/X2 again and the X66 seemed to be a mix of Solos and Pulsars.

Solos? I always thought the X66 was a pretty busy route, like! Tongue

Often is fairly busy but can sometimes get away with Solos, just some of the fun we are having with Darlington's allocations due to Omnicity's being away from MAX refurbishment.

It is definately on familiarisation - the crew shuttle is a little white van
