Does anyone know why the 86/685 has been issued a new timetable starting from today please?
Stagecoach introduced a 2-hourly Hexham - Carlisle service from mid November and this is included in the timetable but I'd imagine, starting today there'd be other changes to the Arriva service than a fancy new map? Of note, the timetable now includes the Haltwhistle - Carlisle 185.

EDIT: I think it is the withdrawal of the Stagecoach in Cumbria 1754 Carlisle - Hexham through Gilsland; now replaced by an 1807 in line with the other services. Due to Cumbria County Council funding cutbacks.

All the Sunday Newcastle-Hexham buses have been re-timed too, with the withdrawal of the 0834 Newcastle-Hexham also. It would appear the Saturday 1407 from Carlisle to Newcastle has gone too but that might be a mistake

I find this change actually a bit annoying, why don't they change the 'best one X1' to a different number, the X1 (Durham-Middlesbrough) has been a lot more long standing than the previous!

You wouldn't believe how long this has been debated over!
The problem we had was the X1 'Best One' goes with the 1/1b out of Darlington, to renumber that would probably mean re-numbering the whole town network - so it was decided that it was easier to re-number the Durham X1. Still not an ideal situation I agree but they don't want two duplicate MAX numbers.

There is only one bus leaving at 13:22, which should be a Stagecoach one - the timetables show both operators, the Arriva one is shaded in grey, and the Stagecoach one should have a code near the top

Sunday buses from Hexham to Newcastle now leave @ 32 minutes past instead of 44 minutes past - which is a pain for me (and it seemed several other people today).
I used to catch the Arriva bus back from Hexham after arriving @ 14 past on the GNE TEN with time for a quick shop - I can't manage it by 32 past so I will now get the GNE TEN @ 21 past with a long wait. 
Four adults who had arrived to catch the 44 past Arriva decided to catch the train instead, and another passenger had missed the 44 past and had to wait for 48 minutes for the next one at 32 past.
I understand why Arriva has deleted the 25 minute layover wait in Hexham in favour of an immediate turnaround but it will mean losing passengers to GNE IMO (though those wanting to access the north bank of the Tyne east from Corbridge will have to catch the Arriva of course).
Rant over!

The connection in Hexham used to be a bit risky between Arriva and Stagecoach so I always used to catch GNE'S (can't remember if it would've been a 602/10 or not).

From January the X24 will run Saturdays only, so it will no longer run on Sundays and weekdays during school holidays.

Great to see us get our dedicated school service after pushing for it! I've not seen the timetable til now but I know a box of 805 timetables were sent to Nunthorpe Academy the other day as I was going to pinch one until we realised they were for the school! lol

Most bus operators 'hedge' a good portion of their fuel price, so a decrease in the price recently will have little affect to the bill. Only a long term low price will bring cost down and this could be months or years between hedging deals.

Whitby Service Changes from Sunday 25 January

Service X93

There will be a revised timetable in operation from this date, which will help further improve punctuality, following on from the significant positive improvement last January. Buses will still operate every hour during the 'Off Peak' season and up to every 30 minutes during the 'Peak' season.

Peak Season will operate between Saturday 23 May and Saturday 3 October this year, inclusive.


Service 94

Most journeys on Service 94 will be revised to operate around 10 minutes later than current journeys, with an additional earlier arrival into Whitby Bus Station at 0821 (Mon-Fri) and 0826 (Sat).

Sunday journeys will be revised to operate around 20 minutes earlier than they currently do, which will provide better co-ordination between Services X93 and 94 on Sundays to/from East Whitby.


Service 95/96

Service 96 will be withdrawn in full and replaced by Service 95. There will be no changes to the route of Service 95.

As a result, Sleights will re-gain a half hourly Mon-Sat daytime service to Whitby.

Furthermore, buses will be revised to operate around 9 minutes later than current, with the addition of an earlier arrival into Whitby at 0801 (Mon-Fri) and 0836 (Sat).

Sunday journeys will also be revised to operate around 20 minutes earlier than current.

Oh dear that's bad!

I think they have a few revisions in Durham from the same date, but haven't announced them yet although the timetables are online though.
