Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - February 2015

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - February 2015
(10 Feb 2015, 6:07 pm)Dan wrote No - in both South Shields and Durham there should be around 10 minutes layover so they should be using the appropriate layover stands. Likewise with the 56 in Sunderland. It shouldn't be rare to see two 20s at the terminus or two 56s at Park Lane at all now as one should be just setting off to depart when the other bus arrives.

Problem with using the layover stand in Durham, despite there being the space for two buses in theory, in reality there is only really room for one unless the second bus is an MPD. There is often a 21 laying over there where buses often drop off, so realistically the 20 could only really go on the layover bays behind the stands. so would have to drop off passengers then reverse into a bay, only problem with dropping off passengers on the 20/20A stand then pulling off the stand is people try and board it.

(10 Feb 2015, 5:28 pm)Jimmi wrote Seem as we're talking about 20/20A stands, since the timetable changes should the 20/20A/X20 be pulling straight onto stand L in Durham Bus Station? I raise the issue because the 20's are due to arrive at 05, 25, 45 minutes past the hour but the Stanley Travel service 40 should be on the stand departing at 06, 26, 46 minutes past the hour (1 minute after the 20's arrive).

Haven't seen any problems happen yet though.

Haven't used the 20's since the changes, but quite often bunching occurred in Durham - prior to the changes.
The second one in, would often pull up on the outside of the one already on the stand, unload and then shoot straight out.

I saw that happen occasionally, it would often depend on which got onto the stand first the late one or the on-time one, shouldn't be happening as the 20/20A follow different routes so it's an extra 20 minute wait if one left without coming back.

You'll sometimes see this happen on the 21 in Eldon Square, I've seen a Durham bound journey on the stand and the Chester terminating journey would drop off the passengers and sometimes leave Eldon Square and not come back.

All the 20/20A's I saw today seemed to be running on-time today.

I have a new nemesis 4909

Devil bus. I was massively disturbed (flashbacks and palpitations) at seeing Nexus use a Waggonway DAF for their winter weather poster

Red Arrows Gemini and Red Kite (old livery) OmniCity and Citylink rigid Citaro were on the Nexus Christmas and Boxing Day leaflets. My god, photos look like they were taken at Eldon Sq Entrance/Haymarket exit and a badly photoshopped snowy background.

Nexus need to have;
- Better photoshopping skills
- And promote bus travel by using newer images

I'm sure customers are more interested in the texted bit of information than whatever photos they put on their posters....

I can just imagine you stopping dead in your tracks and have horror flashbacks then run away.

The juddering smell of damp, stalling, breaking down and being stranded in the arse end of nowhere and that roar of the engine came back. It was like smelling napalm from Vietnam

According to a punter on fb, a 28 broke down yesterday. No idea of the vehicle type - but I can only imagine the flashbacks if it happened when you were riding it.

Just followed V315LGC from Moor Farm roundabout, halfway along the A19 towards Seaton Burn roundabout, where it pulled into a layby, any idea?

Having a layover before performing a nearby scholars service perhaps?

This might not be the appropriate thread for DDA compliance, although there have been questions and discussions about whether (and when) vehicles are expected to comply.

If there is a more suitable location, please feel free to move this post.
(I did try to use the Search function - but I gave up - DDA is too short . . . )

Is it  not because they're getting ready to scrap them, saves them doing it when the new buses arrive?

As I said before, I don't think it will be sold (yet), so the answer to that one is no.

Got until the end of the year, and 4911 is one of the newest examples. Wouldn't withdraw that at this stage in the year.

I've been struggling to connect to anything lately. I get to the Go North East loading screen, tick box and then it crashes. Not sure if its the volume of people using the service or what.

I've logged it with CS, asked them not to reply as I was contacting them just as feedback.

Thought my phone settings may be off but I can connect to the Cloud, Arriva and Stagecoach fine.

Wonder if icomera/GNE have considered building wi-fi into the App, in the same way the Cloud now has its own app to make it easier to connect instead of manually connecting each time

Olympian 3832s front two windows (where the destination would be on other examples) are not allowed to be closed. Each window has its own notice on the back of a driver defect card.

Could it be possible that 4911 has recently been involved in an RTA and has just returned to Service.
