Offering free travel on a 9-5 skeleton service is significantly different to free travel, including multi-operator day tickets on a normal network.
But, I do get your point.
I wonder how this is working in respect of any cost based agreements they may have? I assume the buyer isn't too chuffed about not having any revenue passed over to them?
