Is Washington before or after Fencehouses? (From Heworth)

I just want to see what the Connections4 Citaros look and feel like, before changing in Washington Galleries and then going across to Marcusland to get some photos and timetables etc.

The Galleries is well before Fencehouses from Heworth. Takes about 20mins to travel between the two.
Big fan of those Mercs. They've been on nearly a year and a half and don't seem to miss a beat, despite being pushed hard at times and are in good nick, despite being subjected to a number of secondary schools along the way.

It's £2.80 to the town centre, so I'd imagine it'd be the same to Whitley Bay Links? Otherwise it'd be £3.30 as that's the price to Blyth.

Might just use the Metro and stop off in the town centre for food then catch the 308 to Blyth then the 1 back home.

I'll post this here rather than the Bus Outings thread... Thinking about maybe making a trip up to South Shields on Saturday travelling up from Sunderland on one of the Stagecoach E services.

So a few questions:

Which is the best to get from Sunderland - South Shields in terms of scenery etc. E1/E2/E6?

Also is there any other routes from South Shields I should maybe look at riding once I have gotten my photos in South Shields and wish to travel somewhere else?

Any suggestions welcome

E1 probably your best bet - this is the one that follows the coastline the most.

Failing that, I'd suggest E6. I uploaded a photo to Flickr a few weeks back of an E400 operating either an E2 or E6 climbing a bank. Some decent views.

I may try some E photos if I head to the Seaburn Rally as the Enviros will probably be out that day (or they where last year).

I'll look more into suggestions given (and any others) later as I now having to look into the issues with The Vaccines date change

Yeah there is a upper and lower deck, and there are seats

It's £1.60 each way.

No, you buy them from the conductor as you board the ferry.

There aren't many great places in North Shields, but Northumberland Square is nice. I'd recommend going to Tynemouth if you have time, as there are some lovely coast shots there, and you've got regular services on the 1, 306 and 333 going there. Whitley Bay is also decent too.

Will try and squeeze Tynemouth in if I have time. Did Tynemouth back in October? for the Coastliner 306 StreetLite launch, hopefully it will be warmer than it was that day

Yeah it's a nice place, and the 333 goes direct from the Ferry.

By the way, you can use Explorers on the Ferry, just as your were asking for the fares.

I think I may spend around 30 minutes in North Shields first providing I get photos of stuff I want and I don't encounter any problems although I will avoid The Honest Lawyer on the morning as I am getting the 21/X21 to Sunderland so I should hopefully not encounter delays.

Not going to do Whitley Bay on Saturday as I'll be there the following day for the Rally.

I've decided to make the most of bus outings this weekend as I am busy most of next week, the only day I'm free next week is Tuesday and I may go to the MetroCentre although I usually wiz round the whole place in around 90 minutes (a third of that time is just HMV) so that may possibly turn into an outing.

Day saver on ferry is £2.60 so worth paying if you are going to do a return journey.

What would be the quickest and cheapest way to get to Barnes Park. I'll be departing Ashington on the 0900 X21 to Newcastle, but I'm stumped whether to use Metro to Sunderland and walk, or Metro to Sunderland then bus?
