(29 Jul 2015, 3:49 pm)danpick What happened to cause all that damage?

Looks worse than what it actually is - you have to remove that front panel to be able to tow the bus (note 'CAUTION / BUS ON TOW') destination screen.

A query re. day returns.  Thought I'd try the Quaylink Q1 from Low Fell to Newcastle, and was unable to purchase a day return.  Are there many services GNE run where there aren't return fares available?

Every time I've asked for a return ticket  recently, I've been told by the driver they don't do return tickets anymore, as a buzzfare (unlimited travel within zones) is the same price.
Not sure if this is true now for all journeys, or maybe the ones I was taking on that day's travel. I now usually load up Key card with Buzzfares for my zones regularly travelled. (Purple/Green)

If travelling between Metrocentre & Newcastle City Centre (within one zone) I have been advised no return tickets are issued, and to purchase a buzzfare ticket

The strange thing is I've recently got a return ticket on the 21 from Low Fell to Newcastle, which was £3.90, so it seems as if it's available on some services but not others.

They have the Newcastle Metrocentre day saver which is valid on all services between Newcastle and Metrocentre, in the Newcastle local zone and on the Q3 between Newcastle and Great Park for £3.50?

(12 Jul 2015, 7:07 pm)citaro5284 The bus full was removed because how would someone know what service had gone past especially if you had a red vehicle and that road was shared with a couple of services.  Que a complaint for non operation.

Also, when VOSA are carrying out spot checks, a route number must be on display so they can check the timings with the registration.  It would simply not be practical to have a bus full setup for every service, and probably not possible with the amount of memory that is in the DERIC's.  Riverside's vehicles are close to the max now.

You have day returns and day tickets i.e chester moor to eighton lodge is covered by the chester day saver  at £3.50, chester to birtley is £2.10 single so a day saver is the cheapest option, so no return ticket is offered. Birtley to gateshead is £2.80 single, £4.70 return or £4.85 for a purple day ticket if your planning to go to the metrocentre or for those who wish to jump on/jump off.

Did it really need confirming? It was quite obvious that it was supposed to read NK15.

Not relevant to above post but relevant to post above is responding to: People seem to get so hyped up over a typo. Second day in a row a typo has caused some sort 'outrage' if you would call it that.

The two final Optare Solos for Peterlee - 661 (NK15 GFJ) and 666 (NK15 EMJ) - were delivered to Go North East yesterday. As such; vinyl fitting has now commenced, with 653 (NK15 GDE) being the first to receive "indiGo" branding.

Heaven forbid if I've typed those letters in the registration in the wrong order... Cannot believe all the fuss over these simple typos recently - everyone makes them! :s

The last time I bought a single from Chester-le-Street to Pelton (a 7/8 minute journey at the most), I paid £2.00. When I first started going out on buses by myself, I would pay £1.90 (iirc). So if it's £2.00 for such a short journey, you can understand why I don't find £2.80 for a journey from Birtley to Gateshead to be expensive. Tongue

Quite funny you mention Quality Contacts, actually, citaro5284... Looking at the facts and figures; if it's deemed expensive now, it's going to remain expensive under a Quality Contracts Scheme...

I believe a number of those in support of Quality Contracts have suggested one of the reasons behind this is related to pricing strategies.

Under a Quality Contracts Scheme, Nexus proposes that a journey between Birtley and Gateshead would cover three zones (A, B and C). In 2012, Nexus proposed that a single fare on one mode of transport would cost £2.50. An inflation calculator would suggest that £2.50 in 2012 is now worth £2.72. One would therefore suggest that the fare, under Quality Contracts, would either be £2.70, £2.75 or £2.80 (pretty damn close to the present fare of £2.80!)
