I see quite a bit of Tyne and Wear PTE-liveried double deckers cropping up. One of my favourite things from that page is of the RMS Mauritania, when it was sailing down the Tyne having been built there. Not many people will know this, but the River Tyne was the birthplace of some of the most iconic ships of the 19th century. I'm sure Cunard built the Lusitania and Aquitania elsewhere, think it was by a company with the name John in it, in Scotland somewhere. Quite fond of ships as well as buses and trains. Tongue

(31 Jul 2015, 1:04 pm)DaveyBowyer wrote The whole point is that 6084 becomes a permanant vehicle on the TEN. This is what could happen:

- 6001 to 6007 to Crook alongside 3943 as a spare.
- 6049(T) to Riverside as a TTX spare. Can be used on TEN if not needed.
- 6050 to Riverside as a TEN / Red Kite spare.
- 6051 to Hexham as a TEN spare.
- 6052 / 6053 to Percy Main as Cobalt spares. Alongside 6117, these can be used in the afternoons if available.
- 6054 / 6055 to Chester, fitted with GKN tech and become part of the Angel PVR.
- 6084 (T) becomes a permanant fixture on the TEN and branded up.
- 3962 / 3965 become dedicated spares for the Angel.
- 3941, 3942, 3963, 3964 go to Percy Main for DFDS work repacing 2x non DDA compiant Lolynes and the Presidents can be used elsewhere.

I can see what you are trying to do - having 6084 on the TEN and 6054/6055 on the Angel would 'match' with 6071-6083 and 6056-6070 but it just isn't logical to put a younger vehicle on the TEN permanently but have an older vehicle replace it as the TEN and TTX spare...you'd be far better off breaking what you are trying to do and have both 6049 and 6084 as corporate spares with one of 6052 or 6053 becoming being repainted and branded as TEN. The Cobalt Clipper does not need 3 spare vehicles.

(31 Jul 2015, 1:11 pm)Andreos1 wrote None of the shops that are in the Interchange Centre now - are in the photo. It is all just rubble.
I reckon the shops were built in the mid-80's. So only a few years after that photo was taken and not long before you came to Gateshead.

Note the walkway under Wilkinsons (what was Presto/Safeway), into the metro station, is open to the elements too.

I can't remember Gateshead Interchange ever looking like that, which is strange as I definitely recall being dragged around Sheppards with my mother and blagging her (and my aunt) to buy me He-Man figures. This would have probably been around the same time.

On another note, I imagine it would have been nice sitting on the grass and waiting for your bus to come on a hot summers day in Gateshead. Then again, perhaps not...

I believe it was like that in 2001 still when the 4950-4953 artics were intorudced onto the X66.

I'm sure there is a thread elsewhere on the forum, called ''Satellite Imagery'' (or something along those lines), and shows how Gateshead Interchange has changed over time.

What was Shepherds, was knocked down (and turned into the Tesco car park) around the same period as the Interchange Centre shops were built. If not the same time, definitely a year or two before the 80's were out.

I saw all that grass in the picture and just thought giant toilet Big Grin  One of my first memories of shopping in Gateshead high street was a mother pulling her boy's pants down so he could wee against the wall on the front of Iceland. And she can't have been the only one with that mentality because it usually smelt delightful on a hot summer's day. A bit like Peterlee, now, in fact.

The proper Cobalt Clipper runs (not just Battle Hill to Newcastle) are worked by the following though at present:

Lolyne or B7TL:
- 16:05 x39 from Cobalt which then also does the 17:42 309 to Blyth from Newcastle after working a 307.
- 16:10 309 from Newcastle to Blyth.
- 16:40 309 from Newcastle to Blyth.

If you were at Haymarket just for a single fare and saw a 13 plate B5LH or 64 reg Streetlite parked against a 15/16 year old double deck with none of the advertised perks, what would you choose? And on weekends, 6052/6053 could also provide extra capacity on the Coaster too.

And the whole point of 6084 going on the TEN is that bar the lack of leather headrests and CCTV monitors, the specification is exactly the same. Then if a need for a spare bus arises on the TEN / TTX, then passengers would still at least get Free Wi-Fi, Next Stop Announcements and High Back Seats and also a relatively modern bus too that can also handle the A19 (6049). It's far from matching fleet numbers but more to do with:

- service specifications
- route needs

No problem - worth noting that nothing is usually parked there during the day as the depot is merely an outstation. All spare buses are usually parked up in the bus station.

On Sundays, a lot more is visible given that service 59 (PVR 1) is the only one which operates, with the rest of the buses parked up in the depot.

Sure enough I found this out the hard way by actually going to it and being left disappointed. Hence the posts in the Annoying thread.

Couldn't see any Solo SR's anywhere in Peterlee today.
