This morning was my first ride on the 30 since the NCC person was doing a survey, there have been some interesting changes...
- On arrival at North Seaton, the bus now stops and lays over in a lay-by opposite B&Q. This is what Arriva and certain Phoenix drivers have done already. The driver explained to me how he has to stop there now. I find a 15-minute layover on a route which then serves North Seaton Colliery a few moments later is a silly idea. The elderly who can't walk as much as 'able-bodied' people have to stay on the bus for 15 minutes to reach their destination.
- I almost missed the 30 as it pulled out of the layby, I flagged down the bus and the driver explained how silly it is how there isn't any stops and it would have been a long wait.
- Once I sat down, the floor was wet and a bleach smell was present. The bus had been cleaned while it had been in the layby. The bus would have only done that one round-trip before...
I think the 30 was fine as it was, despite my moans. What could have happened was a bus stop on the main road outside B&Q or the Fox Cover pub for people like me who would otherwise have to wait an hour for the next bus. There needs to be more bus stops in the industrial estate too.
