Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - September 2015

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - September 2015
Well, Well, Well....

I have been told by a Go North East employee that the two new OmniDekka's are actually going to Crook for the X21.

And that they actually have no intention of buying ANY new buses at all.

I don't know where this 'no new buses' crap is coming from, as if you follow the new buses for GNE registrations from when they start to get delivered- 12, 63, 15... 66 (September 2016)...?

Nothing has been confirmed yet, and what's to say that he's talking pure rubbish...?
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - September 2015
GNE were quick to remove the AD122 from their site... normally takes a few days after the service is withdrawn/canceled....

I think the Pronto renewal will mainly depend upon the quality contracts and if they don't go ahead, then I can see B9s from somewhere ending up on the Pronto not necessarily the Red Arrows lot though.

It's been there for about a week now (I noted it on the forum when it transferred originally), so it's probably been on more services than just the 61!

Perhaps more notable is the fact that 4896 is still in use at Gateshead - on 64/95/96 cycle today. I guess it'll go to Deptford when Riverside get 4907 back from Thorntons (DDA mods).

How many more will be repainted in to "Go North East"?

Thought we would see some in GNE once the AD122 finishes...

Can you confirm if 5292-5297 will be repainted? - along with 5337/5338?

As I said before - it'll probably transfer to Deptford when 4907 gets back... Can't be on loan to Riverside when it hasn't even gone to Deptford yet, haha...
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - September 2015
Is there an update on whether 5250 is back at Stanley yet? It has been away at Saltmeadows for a while now.

Glad to hear 5289 has gone to Saltmeadows. It had a nasty dint in a back panel (a former laser citaro had a similar issue iirc).

From the GNE site:

Extra Quaylink buses
We’ll be running extra journeys on the Q3 service between Haymarket Bus Station and St Peter’s Basin for rugby fans parking at the former Spillers site on Newcastle Quayside. Our Q3 will run every 15 minutes during the day as usual, but will run every 15 minutes into the evening on matchdays too. A temporary bus stop will be located on the Spillers site or customers can board at the existing stop at Spillers Quay, next to the Cycle Hub.

Normal Q3 timetable: http://www.simplygo.com/download/publica...july-2015/

Extra journeys:

What he's been told actually makes a lot of sence, if gne can avoild by new buses then they will due to the uncertain nature of the quality contract scheme. Why would gne buy new buses just for quality contacts to come in, doesn't make sence? Only reason the MPD at Peterlee got replaced was because there was no alternative. Maybe Gne have secured another few omnideckers for x21. If the quality contract scheme doesn't go ahead then gne will invest a lot of money all at once into new buses as there are so many buses they need rid off, red deckers, olympians, B10s (sadly), scania's, and the mercs badly need something done with them. Far to unrelieable.

So the entire fleet minus Volvo B9TLs and Streetlites? Good luck to Go North East if they're expected to replace 500+ buses in one hit as they're "far too unreliable"...  Huh

Today i heard GNE have secured at least 20 more Omnideckkers, which GNE should gain soon although its all talk...........not sure what/if Brighton are gaining anymore new buses this year so it might not be 100% true......just thought i'll let people what i heard.

Not sure if any buses will be withdrawn because of upcoming service changes but if so, it'll be the non-DDA ones first...which will be... Tridents (so they can be sold on, while they still have time to be used in service) or B10's... the Olympians will stay until just before the deadline..

Not sure how you arrive at that number, the gemini deckers are fine, the 06 place red deckers are ok, the streetlite are excellant, the versa are fine, and the mercs just need some money spent of them. Arriva don't really have many buses more than 10yrs old left, just a handfull of axl400 alexander dennis deckers and some mpd.

What is wrong with the Merc Citaro's? I always thought that the Citaro's were good buses! Am i wrong or have i missed something?

I thought it was a shame that GNE have not purchased more New Mercs rather than the Streetlites, apart from the obvious big difference in Price!

And, seemingly, a load of 2002 Geminis at Jesmond
