(12 Oct 2015, 4:06 pm)Jimmi How's everyone finding the 5p carrier bag charge? I decided to buy a bag for life thing from USC a few days before the charge came in. Some people aren't happy about this, I was in Sunderland on Saturday and I saw a woman carrying a load of shopping in her arms presumably not wanting to pay for carrier bags.
I just carry stuff now.

Carrying several bags around with us so we dont have to pay for one is an inconvenience and paying 5p for a bag is, also, an inconvenience. Seems thats all the government want to do.

The other option of course is do what has already been mentioned. Don't ask for a bag and carry it.

That's what I did last night, the security idiot at Asda stopped me and asked why I was carrying a pizza...

Plus, at Asda, you have to press the help button at a self service machine for a 5p bag...

My mam went livid as she was told that she HAD to pay for a 5p carrier bag, (similar to the ones in the grocery aisle), even though she had Bags for Life already, to walk out with a chicken in a bag. The bag wasnt sealed properly and had grease all over it. We managed to get it for free... then it broke!

You'd expect people to be civilised to one another, and not to use the infliction of pain as a punishment. Saudi Arabia have a disgusting human rights record, and we should be doing all we can to support one of our citizens out there.

The bid by the Ministry of Justice for the Saudi prisons training contract could have proved highly embarrassing had the government not pulled out and if the corporal punishment went ahead..

I know this lot tend to be a bit slow in the public displays of moral fibre stakes but good grief.
