Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2015

5292 and 5289 both carry route details. 5291 and 5284 dont.

Think it was 5289 we saw.

I was more surprised to see one still in the old orange diamond livery. Seems to be rather close to the changeover date.  Maybe GNE is busy keeping the fate of the other vehicles close to its chest.

Somewhat a bit of a rarity to see them still in the orange livery. Should get through the 3 remaining vehicles in time (either that or temporarily withdraw them like they did with 5234-5242 while they did driver familiarisation and repaints). Mind, there are the remaining solars to repaint green - think it was said that it takes around 2-3 days to repaint a bus and there is only a week to go before the changes.

Think it's only the one that has it, which has been active since it first entered service? Someone on here will have more info regarding it

I believe that happened with the new Quaylink, 8328 and 8329 took ages to be painted, so badly organised sometimes the X40 allocation had vyking in it  Big Grin

It's only 5289 that has that announcement if I remember correctly. I think from its days on the 58.

I can vouch for that - there was definitely at least one CityLink Citaro with the announcement.

I can recall I used to get 5289 regularly whenever I used the 43/44, and it always stood out against the other examples as it had a female voiceover. After somebody pressed the bell, a robotic female voice would say ''please remain seated until the bus has come to a complete stop''.

I think the Citaro's might go the same way as the Scania's did when they were repainted in to orange for the Tynedale Express.... the 3 Citaro's won't be needed in service straight away (the ones which are still "Diamond"), wouldn't be surprised if all 5 of those Citaro's which are going signal blue are temporally withdrawn while the rest are repainted and hopefully branded.

As for the others... i would imagine branding will start to go up a notch so they can try and get most buses branded ready for changes... although its unlikely all of the buses will rebranded for the 25th October.

The Highwayman Scania's......... Don't think they can withdraw them temporarily so they'll be done one by one....

They have a week to do 5 solars. May be a case of debranding them and having them running around in the highwayman base livery for a bit if thats what it takes. Can't see them being temporarily withdrawn.

Ye, they'll probables go around in the light green base until repainted, i can't see them being temporarily withdrawn either.

Seen a few of the North Tyne Links today in wallsend and with it being a sunday the 40/41 do the full circles all day and theres some via points missing when Wallsend is displayed

On the 40 its displayed Wallsend via howdon and rosehill but if hadrian park is displayed it has Via Station Road, High Farm, Battle Hill Drive.

41 has rosehill and howdon missing from it.

Few passengers keep asking drivers if the routes habe changed as some via points have been took out.

Via points tally up with the timetable / places served on the company website.

Yep which i understand but when the 40 goes from wallsend to hadrian park they have more via points than the 40 that does wallsend-wallsend circle

Here's a one.

Why does the 434 call at 'North Seaton'? NS Village (by the Northern Social Club), NS Crossing, NS Road, NS Colliery (where the 30 went)? Wouldn't be better as 'The Elephant'?

Arriva call at the true North Seaton with the 35/a and X20.

Arriva's North Seaton is the blue pointer, GNE's North Seaton is the red and North Seaton is in green (Note: includes Industrial Estate and Colliery).

Do the drivers show Hadrian Park leaving Wallsend and then Wallsend when leaving Hadrian Park, as they should not just be showing Wallsend when leaving Wallsend.

Thats pretty damn close to the 'true North Seaton'. Doesn't make much difference.

So when someone who has looked at 'North Seaton' scrolling on the screen, they used the 30 a lot (which had North Seaton on the front), got on the 434 just to find out it only calls at The Elephant...?

Fancy a walk from The Elephant to North Seaton Village or North Seaton Colliery?  Wink

thats what am thinking they might be kicking about waiting to get repainted so they will loose the highwayman brand while its in the que for the repainting shed at Saltmeadows

Going back to the Scania Omnilink query. Go North East has operated two different demos (one 2 axle the other 3 axle) of this vehicle type, though I think the blue one may have been a loan to cover warrenty work on the Scania Omnicities.

First one was 2-axle version YN07EZB as seen here - https://www.flickr.com/photos/chriswhite...860995342/ - this now operates for Go-Ahead subsidury Anglian Bus

Second one was 3-axle version YR09GXP as seen here - https://www.flickr.com/photos/johnmighty...rRx-pkDPfq - this ended up with DRM, Bromyard and is now registered UK09DRM.

I believe Northumberland County Council were responsible for selecting the via points - I certainly had no involvement in choosing what they were (same as the Durham University bus).

It doesn't look that far away from the green area so yes, i would walk from the Elephant into the Village or Colliery.

That answers that query, then.

The 'places served' for service 40, according to Go North East's website is:
Wallsend - Station Road - High Farm - Battle Hill Drive - Hadrian Park - Howdon - Roshill - Wallsend

As such, the destinations are as follows:

40 Hadrian Park
via Station Road - High Farm - Battle Hill Drive

40 Wallsend
via Howdon - Rosehill

41 Hadrian Park
via Rosehill - Howdon

41 Wallsend
via Battle Hill Drive - High Farm - Station Road

Departing Wallsend, the driver should show 'Hadrian Park', and, upon arrival at Hadrian Park, the destination should be changed to 'Wallsend'.
