Also will we finally see the cadets branded "Black Cats" after all the branding is done for the upcoming changes?  Angel Angel

I've heard that they've scrapped the Black Cats as the Cadets will be gone soon.

Wouldn't be surprised, its being so long since they announced it, nothing has happened....

They need to change the 33/33A timetables in the shops to "Go North East" if it has.

I dont think passengers will care about the fact that there is a bus displaying the black cats livery on the front of the leaflets. The chances are it will be changed when there are service revisions in that area affecting that servce.

Were on 6007 (Big'un thinks) on the X1 earlier. Horrible grating noise from the back, possibly to the left, whenever it braked or went around a bend or over a bump.

Could of been worse, you of been a "Tinned Sardine" on the X1 I got on this evening coming home from work, had to be 80 to 90 Passengers on board upon leaving Gateshead Interchange, either way we were at full capacity, which I have never before witnessed on the X1 before.

This was, thankfully, a moderately full mid afternoon bus. I spent the journey trying not to fall off the first seat up the step at the back.

That sounds more like a Saturday morning X9 loading!

As far as I'm aware they are only allocated to scholars then they sit spare in the depot and a couple at gateshead until needed on service work to cover breakdowns etc

Hey Dan/Citaro: appreciate there's a limit to requests, but would it be possible to think about changing the number colour on either the 20 or the 50?

The more aged folks (and also some younguns!) at shields have difficulty distinguishing between a blue/purple bus showing "Durham" as the destination, when there's also a similarly coloured number (which can be easily transposed in some peoples minds...)

Perhaps moreso when it's a red spares allocation?

Simple driver error. I'm sure when it gets to Chester-le-Street, it will be rectified.

One running board on services 64/64A and 95/96 is covered by a dual-door Volvo B7TL at the moment and all others are on scholars (some of which do interwork with some 'normal' services). Two Volvo B7TLs are parked up at Gateshead Interchange during the day, in between scholars.

The vehicles with a colour route number (excluding Quaylink) all show white route numbers now opposed to something with a colour background. This is to provide consistency with the new vehicles in the fleet which only have white LED displays, and also means that the route numbers can be larger than normal with a colour square behind it.

The colour route numbers are also more difficult to read from a distance, especially at night, when there's a coloured square behind the number. I guess if passengers find it difficult to distinguish between the colour of the buses, they'll find it equally as difficult to distinguish between colours on the destination display too.

Same could be said for 309/310, 58 & 56 at market Street,  the Q1 & 58 at gateshead. Personally I don't see how people get confused as it's not as if they are even the same type of bus. Think people should look at the route number if in doubt, it is clear enough....

When the 921 stopped at the same stand at heworth as the X10, people still got on the 921 expecting to go to Middlesbrough. Needless to say they weren't happy when they were told they couldn't get off until Rainton Smile

Just as some people get mixed up with similar letters, like b or d - they can get mixed up between a 2 & 5.
Just the way the mind works I suppose.

When the destination is the same and they're getting mixed up with a 2 & 5, I can see where some confusion might arise.

Although the DDA can't cover everything, I am surprised their isn't some scope for recognised learning difficulties, such as dyslexia or duscalculia (http://www.bdadyslexia.org.uk/dyslexic/dyscalculia)
I have mentioned the colours used previously and how some process information, when the colours contrast. Black and white, being one of the worst combinations for those with dyslexia for example.
For those without it, it is arguably the clearest combination.
