(16 Oct 2015, 8:50 pm)GX03 SVC Some operators sell the NE Explorer cheaper than the advertised price. I can get them for £9.50 on Arriva.

I usually buy mine on Arriva, and while it took them a week or so longer to register last year's 20p price hike, they've been costing the same as elsewhere all this year.

Closest you can get is on either the 21, X22, X25 or X12 and get off just before the Barley Mow club and walk past Pelaw Grange Greyhound Stadium - the road should follow round into it.

Quite good going to watch the greyhounds race as the ECML runs right behind it so when a race isn't on, i can just sit and watch the trains fly past.

Cheers for that, Robert. Means that I don't have to pay for a Buzzfare or a Day Return on GNE when I can get there on the X12.

Idiots at Parcelforce haven't bothered leaving the parcel with a neighbour or at the Post Office.

Ah right, this map may help. It is a bit of a walk but as i say, the ECML bridge would really provide variety a photostream with it being away from a station (you seem one of those people who aren't station based anyway and i think a few of your photos show that):

I'm thinking about going to this Farewell event in Manchester and it says if your 11-16 you need proof with an igo card but you can only have one if you live in Greater Manchester so would my POP Card/Get Around be good enough?

The day ticket available is just a standard Stagecoach day ticket, so I'm inclined to suggest that your POP card won't be valid.

Maybe I didn't explain right, They need a form of ID to prove I'm 11-16 so would that help or would I mighty as well pay Full Fare.

Way back when, I tried to use my Under 16 card as it was then, to try and get a childs fare, on a United bus in Durham.
This was despite the driver on our 222 from Houghton saying he would only accept it as far as Rainton and he would have to charge us an adult fare from there (for the rest of the journey into Durham).

My argument, was that it showed my age and clearly demonstrated I was under 16.
Their argument, was that it wasn't valid outside of T&W.

If you used your POP Card in Durham now, would they accept it? Chances are, the response would be the same in Manchester.

A passport will be your best bet. Using other operators cards etc will lead drivers just to say 'not valid, pay up'.

(27 Oct 2015, 9:36 am)TfGM From 16 May 2011 if you're aged 11 to 16 you will need an igo pass to pay the concessionary fare on buses in Greater Manchester. An igo pass proves that you are aged 16 or under and is valid until 31 August after your 16th birthday. When you are 11 you need to carry proof of your age to pay the child fare on Metrolink trams. You can use an igo pass to do this.
