I don't mention any routes for personal
preference (minus vehicle type). I simply discuss this from a business perspective. If GNE had've followed the 1-7/8 rule when buying the B9TLs for the TEN (although they'd still be a spare short due to the PVR change since then), then I'd be saying different. But because:
- The Angel is 2 short of a modern Gemini PVR.
- No spare B9s at Riverside.
- TEN is still a B9 short due to 6084 constantly being needed on the TTX.
- Percy Main could do with another spare.
- The Pronto needs an upgrade.
- The oldest Red Ardows are coming upto 5yr old albeit still gan strong.
- The Red Arrows is missing plug sockets unlike the other major double deck routes (excluding the Angel and Red Kite).
Therefore, it would make good business sense to upgrade the Red Arrows with ADL bodied deckers with the power and chassis provided by Scania or ADL/Cummins.
(06 Nov 2015, 1:20 pm)Adrian Why didn't you say that then? You've read the same as what I've read, so you'll understand that it'll have to go to a NECA committee/board, before there's any potential of the plans being sidelined.
My point was merely to raise awareness, in the mist of spun press headlines.
Without trying to turn this into the order predictions thread, I'd suggest it's rather difficult to predict for the following financial year's order, when you don't know what's on this year's. Even once this year's order is known, there'll then be a series of cascades, as there is every year. The allocations could be completely different in 6 months time.
Who's to say there aren't plans for the Red Arrows in this year's order? I know it's becoming a broken record, but the B9TLs may actually be required elsewhere.

(06 Nov 2015, 4:16 pm)Dan 5294 returned to service today following repaint into a signal blue base livery, while 4947 and 5228 are both now at Saltmeadows Road for repaint.
As such, both the "Diamond and "Highwayman" brand names have been eliminated from the fleet.

Are 4906 and 4913 at Thornton's?
Any idea when the Citaro's will officially become 57 allocated?

Does anyone know how the recent changes up at Hexham are doing?
Are the new X81, 681 and 185 doing well? I wasn't sure how the 1 retrun trip per day on the X81 Hexham to Alston would do, but I suppose its better to have a service operate with a few passengers rather the bus just travel to/from Alston each day light, where it sets off on the 681 from Alston to Haltwhistle.
Has anyone managed to get any photos?

Bit of an issue regarding 6039s front destination. No idea if the issue is known:
