Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - November 2015

RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - November 2015
The 6-branded Pulsars have 6/22/24 all programmed in whereas the 22/24 only have the two routes in.

Noticed the 24s have had the announcements updated again, as when I pulled out of Durham Bus Station it said 'This is your 24 service to Hartlepool via Peterlee'

Also of note is that 2817 now has a next stop announcement screen fitted.
RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - November 2015
Yes as I understand it the next routes to gain next stop announcements are the 21/X21 and also the 8/8a at Darlington. There are plans to roll these out to further routes in 2016 so watch this space!

As Dan mentioned Hanover have been in to deliver training on the software to our management teams and they have now produced the first of their own sets of next stops which have been tested on 1512 on the 5/5A on Teesside, and should be rolled out to the rest of the fleet soon. Expect everything else to be on a rolling program of updates and corrections!

So many mistakes at the moment. Still hoping to get the new stops on the 5/5A, 7 added, the worst problem is the new stop between Chilton Working Mens Club and Eden Arms Hotel on Darlington bound journeys, sure I have seen people pressing the bell for this new stop when they wanted Eden Arms.

Oh and to add to annoying announcements "Big Club W.M.C." announced as I have typed it.

Due to a flood at the bottom of Newsham Road Blyth service X10 is unable to service the bottom section of Newsham Road. It will operate via Waterloo Road, Cowpen Farm Estate, Isabella then turn right at Southend Avenue back onto Newsham Road. Service X8 will operate via Waterloo Road and Albion Way omitting Newsham Road, Isabella and Cowpen Farm Estate. Authorities are aware of flooded road

Temsa Avenue 4722 (YJ11 GHA) has now been repainted into Arriva's corporate livery:

Also looks like it has been refurbished internally with e-leather seating (that'll be fun!)

I bet it will be as bad as the e-leather seating on Durham's E200s.

Trying to imagine if it will be better or worse than the fabric seats in the current Temsa's in the fleet.

Hate them seats in the Enviro 200's.
RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - November 2015
Yes al of the Temsa's have gained e-leather seating. Thorntons have had to do many other modifications to them also. Should be joining the fleet any time soon!

is it true that once blyth vehicles that are being maxd up will see off X537 GGO and X524 GGO and T313 FGN to scrap

Sapphire 7 Pulsar 1515's next stop announcement screen has a fault at the moment, screen keeps going black with a little grey box appearing. Think this is the same one I had the other night where the screen wasn't working at all.

One thing I noticed a while back on the Pulsars is that on the line map Rushyford is in the wrong place, I believe it had been placed between Ferryhill and Durham.

Yes...?! They're no longer required once the MAX vehicles return.
RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - November 2015
Residual delays to services 1, X21, X22 and 35 due to a parade in Ashington town centre. Buses 1 & X21 were diverted via Hawthorn Road, Third Avenue, Cavendish Terrace and North Seaton Road due to the North Seaton Road being closed between First Avenue and Woodhorn Road.

7528 has a defective NSA monitor, no signal.
Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - November 2015
Does the Belmont Sapphire buses have the evening and Sunday variation for the 22 programmed in as the 22 I am on is displaying West View which is the stop after Easington Post Office on the daytime route (Durham bound). Might just be a wrong screen selection.
RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - November 2015
Can anyone shed any light on the following?

Went through Warkworth on 7527 at approx 17:40, then pulled up behind 7481, with it's hazards on, screened for the X18. No passengers, our driver went and talked to the one on 7481, came back and we drove off.

Was it allocated and broke down? Was it sent by mistake? Seems very strange, especially as when we were leaving Amble we passed it, all lights off, no destination on, making it look like it definitely hadn't broke down?

Also, when we were on the road to Widdrington, we passed two buses 'NIS' (didn't see vehicle type, both in complete darkness) followed closely by an Alnwick bound X18.

I don't know what Sunday workings are like at Jesmond. How many did you see on there?

I saw it last night but I forgot to ask.

Could possibly be route learning. Very strange that there are 3 vehicles NIS up there overwise.

Could possibly run off an X16 but overwise it's a rare working.

Could possibly be swapping buses between Ashington & Alnwick? Redcar do this quite a lot with Whitby to balance the fleet depending on requirements. This is on top of swapping buses on service runs.

Forgot about Alnwick! That makes sense now that I think of it.

The way they were travelling, it wouldn't make too much sense?

This is the section of road they were on:

This is the quickest way from Ashington to Alnwick:
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/55.186...m2!4m1!3e0

So unless they were attempting to save less than a mile of fuel, I don't see why they would be on that stretch?
