(07 Feb 2016, 2:29 pm)Andreos1 Particularly the Birtley section.
Granted councillors have had their fingers in the pie, but the Harras Bank farce and the extension from Birtley up to Northside (so passengers can get from the shops but not to them) hasn't helped.

Completely agree! The Northside section is a p*ss take.

(07 Feb 2016, 2:41 pm)Ambassador Morrisons isn't performing well. People still seem to prefer Asda and Sainsburys.

I'd say the 82 Is vital for the elderly around Barley Mow and Portmeads, however Concord to Birtley in 45 minutes is obscene! Arguably a taxi bus or a reworked 23 could pick up that slack.

Really?

I live in Barley Mow and get the 82A to Birtley most days, and it is generally well used.... Just doesn't warrant Deckers!

I have done a list of the rumoured depot changes, as info is scattered across a couple of pages: (NONE Confirmed) - movements rumoured to be taking place on the 10th April.

Movements around depots:

5 from Riverside to Washington
50/50A from Chester to Washington
88/88A from Washington to Riverside
47 from Riverside to Stanley
Stanley's 8/78's moving to Chester

Also rumoured changes to the 82's aswell.

I hope Dan doesn't mind that I've made his info in to a list?

In what way is it not performing well? I didn't think they'd release footfall or financial stats for individual stores?

I've only been in a handful of times, and found it to be quite busy.

I've never used the 82/82A on that section during the day. I've used it early morning and GNE evening runs, and it's not uncommon for me to be the only person sat on it between Birtley and Rickleton.

If it's generally well used during the day, it surprises me that Arriva haven't capitalised on the evening runs they already have secured? It'd provide a nice little local link to their X12, and also allow them to offer some form of day ticket. They've had a good 4 year or so to do it, and still nothing though.

They were expected to take the majority of birtley's trade, but they are losing money.

Don't see any reason why GNE would move some of the 56 work to Washington.

Where would driver changeovers on service 47 happen if it was moved to Stanley?

(07 Feb 2016, 4:27 pm)S813 FVK Where would driver changeovers on service 47 happen if it was moved to Stanley?

My theory would be that, if it happened, it would probably be a case of the 45/46/47 all interworking, with a split vehicle allocation. It would probably work very much like the 6/X70/X71; with drivers starting at Consett as a 45/46, running to Newcastle, going to Blackhall Mill and back on the 47, and then returning to Consett as a 45/46. Just a theory.

I wouldn't have thought so... Go North East couldn't really market the 45/46 services as having power sockets if four vehicles in the cycle (ie the current vehicles on the 47) didn't have this feature.

So basically, even if it a different thing, they will be creating more work than there is currently.

Ok. I was just looking at the list, and was just thinking 'why the hell would they do this' but if several people are all saying the same thing, surely it can't be made up? Plus the fact that citaro only said no to the 36 moving to Chester-le-Street and not the rest of them...must mean something?

If it's generally well used during the day, it surprises me that Arriva haven't capitalised on the evening runs they already have secured? It'd provide a nice little local link to their X12, and also allow them to offer some form of day ticket. They've had a good 4 year or so to do it, and still nothing though.

The evening journeys that Arriva run don't do that well, some take roughly £30, others will take no more than £2.

Appreciate that, but I meant that if they run them on an evening, what's to stop them commercially branching out during the day? For the reasons I added to my previous post.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, but if GNE do such a bad job with the 82/82A as made out, then you'd think another operator would capitalise on that? Given you've said yourself that it's generally well used.

Just a thought!
