Go North East doesn't have to do a launch for every single new bus or brand.

Having the read the changes on the website, the 78A will now serve Beamish Museum Entrance? If so, why are the times that it will serve there not on the new timetable (timetable for 8/8A only) given that it is listed as a point on the timetable?

Already sniffed out 1x potential odd working on the Red Kites:

NCL Arrival: 16:45 (47), 17:00 (46), 17:15 (45)

NCL Depart: 16:55 (46) (worked of the 16:45 arrival of the 47), 17:05 (45) 17:15 (47)

So either the 17:05 will have just a 5 minute layover (which defeats the whole purpuse of the improved reliability) with the 17:15 47 getting presumably an Omnidekka (or other type) or the 17:05 45 gets the Omnidekka (or other type) with the 17:15 45 working off the 17:00 46 arrival (Streetlite or B9TL).

Could possibly work off the 827 scholars (bedes to rowlands gill), maybe a branded B9 might do the 14.52 into consett then the 827, light to newcastle for the 17.05 departure, with the beamish streetlite operating the next departure the B9 would've been due to do. Now stanley doesn't have the c2c streetlites to cover.

What do you think GNE will do long term then. Do you think they will continue with a mixed allocation or move entirely to either single or double decks?

Bear in mind that the improved reliability will reduce the need of standees. I've already tried matching the 47 arrivals into Newcastle between 0700 and 0900 with the departures between 1600 and 1800 with little joy bar 1 or perhaps 2x runs. Will try again tomorrow to confirm.
S813 FVK   30 Mar 2016, 10:43 pm
This question has been put forward several times already...

I think that the double deck and single deck allocations on thr 45/46 and 47 may work and they must have some plan to leave it like that given that there is talks of having them retrofitted with USB sockets and Next Stop Announcements.

I can't see the 47 coping with Streetlites to be fair. Even at midday today I saw one going through Chopwell and it was quite busy then so will be loads worse at peak times.

And doesn't look like the double decker a will be fitted with USB sockets/NSAs as the timetable says double decker buses will only have WiFi. Shame really.

I agree, The 47 has grown in passenger numbers to warrant Double Deckers now there downgrading it to Streetlites for most runs.
The B9s I think should have atleast Sockets and NSAs to fit in with the Streetlites, If it doesn't it tarnishes the brand in my opinion.

Exactly - hopefully they do though I doubt it as the new timetable says the double deck buses will only have WiFi.
L469 YVK   30 Mar 2016, 11:42 pm
But the ultimate question with the 47 is how many of these 'packed to the rafters' runs are late by more than 5 minutes? If these runs are running to time, then fair enough. And don't forget that this week and next week is the school holidays so there's bound to be more passengers travelling outside of the usual 'peak' periods and this coupled with a tight turnaround / timetable (more the former) could well be causing the need for deckers on the 47.

The deckers are no good if they're not being utilised on the busiest runs between 0700-0900 and 1600-1800 and that doesn't include any usual fully seated 45 / 46 with 1 or 2 standees. GNE will need to decide at somepoint whether or not to bite the bullet and go fully double deck or order 4x Streetlites. As long as buses are keeping to time, then the need for deckers should be at a minimum for these routes.

The long 38 is going too.

Not surprised at all.
Carries as much fresh air as the 35a did when that went to Rainton Bridge.

A through route, similar to the 20a may work better, as the service isn't so reliant on customers only heading to Rainton Bridge then.

Wonder if the 35/36 changes are connected?

The extended use of ellipsis here comes across as if you're suggesting that this is a silly question, R852 PRG, when quite frankly that's not the case. Given that Biglugs lives in the North Sunderland Estates, he's probably well equipped to comment on high usage of this service on an airshow weekend, but sadly there's just no commercial viability in operating the service for a special event which occurs annually, one weekend.

To answer the question... Passengers in Downhill and Hylton Red House will have the option of travelling of using the Park & Ride service from the Community North Sports Complex, Downhill on Kingsway North; passengers from Silksworth, Town End Farm and Southwick will have the option of travelling to the City Centre on services 35/36 followed by a connection to the A1 service; but passengers from Pallion will have no other option but to use a Stagecoach bus and the appropriate connecting service to the airshow.
Michael   31 Mar 2016, 4:25 pm
Pallion have the 10/11 to the city centre, most of the people who live in Pallion probables use Stagecoach buses.

The 18 also runs to Seaburn during the Saturday so that's another bus.

Sundays they would have to go to city centre and connect with the 501? Or the E's..
