(11 Apr 2016, 5:05 pm)peter Press release regarding 15th May service changes in Darlington and Middlesbrough can be found here.

And certain people are going to love the new working patterns on the already complicated Bishop Auckland services:
  • 12s will interwork with 1/5/5a as followed: 5 from Bishop, 1 to Bishop, 5a from Bishop, 12, 1 to Bishop
  • 19s will work off 1s from Bishop but will work onto 5 or 5a to Bishop
PVR will increase for 11 to 13 - a 7/6 split.

Fron what I can the 12's will go:

Arrive in Darlington as service 5 like you say.
Darlington Town Centre - Hurworth.
Hurworth - Middleton St George.
Middleton St George - Hurworth.
Hurworth - Darlington Town Centre.
Depart as service 1 to Bishop Auckland.

Boy I am not looking forward to reporting odd workings I see on these services!

Wonder how this will affect allocations? Wonder if we'll be seeing EcoCity's on the daytime 5/5A's?

As there's only 2 EcoCitys allocated to the 12/12a (the third vehicle should be a Solo), I doubt they'll be ending up on the 8/8a which needs 3.

As for whether the 1/5/5a/12 cycle will be allocated EcoCitys - I would say not really. As Darlington will have 16 standard spec Pulsars to cover the 1/5/5a/12 (7), 1/5/5a/19 (6) and 8/8a (3) I would hazard at the 2 EcoCitys being spare. (Note - 1414 is reportedly transferring out of Darlington as a result of these changes due to the PVR decrease).

So wait there am I right in thinking that all 13 pulsars on the 1/5/5a/19 diagram will eventually go on to a 12 at some point?

Doesn't sound like it. From the sounds of things, 7 boards do 1s to Bishop, 5/5a from Bishop and 12s, the remaining 6 do 5s to Bishop, 1s from Bishop and 19s.

Pretty poor to have nothing in place from day one. Surely there's minimum paperwork running a free unregistered service with a council minibus for a day or so until something more perminant can be arranged.

Nothing on the main website, though and nothing mentioned on twitter, since the facbook thing was linked to, yesterday evening, so nothing there for anyone checking the morning's travel news, today.

They are introducing their senior customer service bod on twitter and asking people for their questions. I'm dying to ask if she's the person who conveniently loses people's complaints.

Edit: looks serious

She's brave to go out asking for trouble! Maybe they should focus on clearing the backlog they appear to have in the complaints inbox before they invite people to moan!

Looks like the article's been updated - there was something in place from early today, aooarently, but no one thought to tell anyone.

"Arriva service 48 will terminate at Ushaw Moor, and will not serve New Brancepeth.

"A special free shuttle service will run between New Brancepeth and Langley Moor on the morning of Wednesday 13 April, starting at 6.11am and running every 20 minutes. It will serve all stops in New Brancepeth normally served by Arriva 48, then run non-stop to Langley Moor, serving the stops at Tesco and the Boyne Hotel. Connections can be made there for services to and from Durham. Further information will be available shortly about longer term arrangements.

I'd like to clarify that neither the council nor Arriva knew that this road would be closed until 5pm on Tuesday evening when faults were found with the bridge.  There was no way anyone could've had plans in force as it wasn't planned roadworks.
