Arriva will be attending this year again. Three different depots are bringing vehicles. Let the speculation begin!

I know who won't be driving one of them this year!  Tongue

Anyone else think it's just the same old every year. Not too bothered about attending this year I've got to be honest but if I'm not doing anything may go for a hour or two.

Kind of, but I think it's still worth going to just for the day out more than anything, if I don't go I'd just be sat in the house bored.

Yeah I can't stand staying in the house all day so if I'm not doing anything else will probs go for a bit.

How long I'm there will depend on a number of things, main one being what turns up and then maybe who's about to talk to.

My plan is likely to be the same as last year:
0847 7 Aycliffe - Durham
0944 X22 Durham - MetroCentre
1635 X22 MetroCentre - Durham
1731 7 Durham - Aycliffe

Hopefully I don't have a close shave with connecting between the X22 and Durham in the evening like last year!

Be mostly getting photos of the big 3's buses as I have plenty of photos of the regular preserved buses that come, unless there's any preserved buses that are newcomers to the event or ones that I don't have many photos of.

It depends what you go for? I don't think it's the same old.

I wasn't a fan of the 2014 season at all, but I think that 2015 was really good. There's always a good selection of preserved vehicles at the Metrocentre, with it being the 'main eventer' of the North East, so to speak. Although other rallies throughout 2015 threw up some surprises too, such as 4708 being at Durham and AVK176V turning up at Seaburn.

From what I've followed through the winter, there should be a few more surprises this year, and obviously a chance for the preservation groups to present and show off their hard work.

You've no idea what preserved buses will be attending yet though? Clearly some of the regulars will be there, but we shouldn't forget all the hard work that has been put in throughout the winter, to get other buses ready for the rally season. Some of which we won't have seen under preservation before, and others that have gone through some significant change.

I think the opposite, I'm not as intrested in the stuff Arriva and GNE bring along, but it is nice to see them in attendance though, along with the independents as well. Although some of the preserved buses are double my age (I'm 22) I do really enjoy riding the stuff in preservation, just as it feels so much different in my opinion to the stuff we've got on the roads today, possibly my favourite ride last year was the Northumbria Optare Delta possibly because I had Optare Deltas on my local routes growing up, in fact I remember riding a Delta with the Northumbria seats in service on service 15 between Chilton and Aycliffe one day, no idea how old I was at the time. At the Kirkby Stephen rally the other week there was stuff in attendance that were new in the 1950/1960's so it's amazing to see these running around at these events, just goes to show how much care and effort goes into keeping these on the road for people to see and ride on.

Hopefully there'll be some decent excursions to and from the show as well, wouldn't mind a trip on a Leyland National if they use one for excursions as these are my favourites of the classic buses

Last year's was the boys' first rally, so it's all new and fresh for them and us.

We'll be driving up. Not as much the comfy option as it should be as the air con needs re-charging!

Saw 4708 at Bowes Railway yesterday, the new livery looks really good after is repaint. Used to get this and 4710 back in the 90's on school runs (718 Service)

RE: North East Bus & Coach Show 2016
Decided I am going to go but only for a hour or so as I have nothing else to do on Sunday. May not bother taking my camera though will have to see as the last couple of years my photos have turned out awful so what's the point. Some canny stuff they sell at the stalls though, never bought much from them but always looks good. I know there is someone who does a fantastic job of painting the models into different liveries but can't remember who (I'm sure someone will).

I know Rob Smallwood does a lot of them under the name of Northumbria Bus and Coach, they tend to be really good.
