Not so much up and coming as already happened. I spotted this in Durham bus station, this morning.

Pretty poor to have nothing in place from day one. Surely there's minimum paperwork running a free unregistered service with a council minibus for a day or so until something more perminant can be arranged.

Seems they knew about it yesterday evening, too.

Nothing on the main website, though and nothing mentioned on twitter, since the facbook thing was linked to, yesterday evening, so nothing there for anyone checking the morning's travel news, today.

They are introducing their senior customer service bod on twitter and asking people for their questions. I'm dying to ask if she's the person who conveniently loses people's complaints.

Edit: looks serious

She's brave to go out asking for trouble! Maybe they should focus on clearing the backlog they appear to have in the complaints inbox before they invite people to moan!

Looks like the article's been updated - there was something in place from early today, aooarently, but no one thought to tell anyone.

"Arriva service 48 will terminate at Ushaw Moor, and will not serve New Brancepeth.

"A special free shuttle service will run between New Brancepeth and Langley Moor on the morning of Wednesday 13 April, starting at 6.11am and running every 20 minutes. It will serve all stops in New Brancepeth normally served by Arriva 48, then run non-stop to Langley Moor, serving the stops at Tesco and the Boyne Hotel. Connections can be made there for services to and from Durham. Further information will be available shortly about longer term arrangements.

I drove across that bridge last night and noticed nothing to suggest its closure.

It proved to be an inconvenience when it last shut earlier in the year.

No. And it's not why 1412 or 1413 are on loan either.

I'd like to clarify that neither the council nor Arriva knew that this road would be closed until 5pm on Tuesday evening when faults were found with the bridge.  There was no way anyone could've had plans in force as it wasn't planned roadworks.

Having inspected the 63 timetable the only change is that Redcar Mersey Road is now Redcar St Hilda's Church. Also service 66 is now on the press release for the Darlington changes.

That's still 14 hours before the morning peak to get something sorted. Any transport manger who doesn't bother to get something sorted because it's past 5pm isn't worth their salt.

Road works in Morpeth.  Newgate Street temporarily one way during pavement works.

Our depot manager was at an emergency meeting with the council trying to come to an arrangement.  It couldn't have come at a worse time for Durham depot with the PVR already being increased by 4/5 buses, meaning we're already stretched with regards to vehicles and staff.  That's the reason why it was decided for another company to run the shuttle bus as we simply don't have the manpower.

Who's running the shuttles, then?

15 timetable from 23rd May

Looks like an increase to the evening 15 PVR with the third bus not disappearing until the end of the night

EDIT: Indeed, an extra bus is added to the PVR during the Monday to Saturday daytime (up to 13 from 12) with running boards sticking to one of the Thornaby terminus during the day (4 for Ingleby, 6 for Bassleton Court and 3 for Cunningham Drive) apart from the 3 late boards (which, working out from the timetable, are 2 Ingleby boards and a Bassleton Court board) which work both estates. There's no PVR increase during the daytime on Sundays (the extra running time comes from reducing the layovers from 3 minutes at North Tees Hospital and 2 minutes at Cunningham Drive/Bassleton Court to nothing at North Tees and a minute at the Thornaby end).

The following changes take place on 22nd May:

Buses on Arriva route 43 are retimed between Cramlington and Morpeth, and in Stobhill buses on this route run via Shields Road.  Click here for the new timetable.

Arriva journeys on route 185 between Haltwhistle, Gilsland, Barmpton and Carlisle are withdrawn.  These journeys have not been supported financially by the county council.  There is no change to the Go North East journeys between Haltwhistle and Gilsland.  Click here for the new timetable.

On Arriva route X11 between Blyth, Cramlington and Newcastle buses run via Laverock Hall Road and the new residentail developent at Portland Wynd.  There is no change to the timetable, and no change to the routeing of buses on route which continue to call at the stops nearby at Park Farm Villas.

On Arriva route X18 between Newcastle, Alnwick, Seahouses and Berwick, an enhanced frequency is reintroduced for the summer on the coastal section betwen Alnwick, Seahouses, Bamburgh and Berwick.  Buses are restored to Alnmouth station (Curly Lane) during the evenings and on Sundays.  An early journey is introduced from Pegswood to Newcastle at 0556 on Mondays to Fridays, and the last bus at 2313 from Newcastle extends daily to Pegswood.  Click here for the new timetable on route X18.

In parallel with the changes on X18, the frequency of journeys on route 418 operated by Travelsure between Alnwick, Seahouses and Belford is also increased.  Click here for the new timetable on route 418.

Interesting that the only extra evening service is only going as far as Stannington

Stannington loses its bus service to Morpeth from 1500 onwards, earlier from Morpeth. Good to see Arriva introducing a service into Stannington in the evening.
