The 40mph limit is still there, and the 3rd lane isn't open.

A1 was a nightmare around the same time too. My X24 was 25 minutes late into the Metrocentre, and I'd gotten on it on time in Durham!

Yeah, "all the cones and speed restrictions will be gone in a few hours" is what was said on the news last night, sure enough - still there on the north bound carriageway today! Dodgy

Durham was a nightmare around lunchtime with the Uni Open Day and Leazes Bowl roadworks, it's bad when I saw 2823 on the 56 round by the Uni on Stockton Road at 11:50, I walked into Durham City Centre getting back to Durham Bus Station for around 12:20 (via Savers and Greggs), 2823 arrived in Durham Bus Station at 12:32!

it was supposed to fully reopen yesterday according to the local news and the highways agency now says there will be closures up until at least the 8th on the journey impact page, so much for reopening by the end of June as they stated it would all be finished by and which is still has on at the top of the page and on the timetable.

Go North East are doing shuttles for the Kynren shows in Bishop Auckland. A selection of double deckers were used on the Bishop Auckland Bus Station shuttle including three OmniDekka's, some Presidents, Vyking 3983 and some of the Castle Express StreetDeck's. Here we see 6304 and 6126:

There was another shuttle from somewhere using the OK Way MPD's but I didn't manage to photograph these runs.

Sorted!

6038 returned to service at Chester-le-Street (or Crook - on paper) on 25th June.

Think it'll be probably put through its test again next week - handy having the extra bus around, as there's quite a lot going on at the end of this month!

Metro Replacements, Sunderland Airshow, Kynren Shuttles, etc.

On Friday? Wink

Slightly different - but a red MPD was on Mulberry Way today. Operating NIS, it was full of people.
Any ideas?

Odd, did you catch a reg or fleet number?

I didn't.
Apart from concentrating on my driving, I was looking at the blind (incase it was an odd working on diversion).
I then got distracted by the number of people on the bus.

The only service which operates along there, is the 237. So taking in to account the time of day (and the fact there were people on the bus), it couldn't have been that.

I believe that some journeys on 237 are moving to Peterlee, so maybe a spot of route learning.

Who in the South Tyneside and other people in this forum thinks the 5/50/50A and the 88/88A needs improved reliability

Seems random, they might as well move all the journeys over to Peterlee.

Quite a few are from South Tyneside including one or two from the Brockley Whins area who would probably benefit from improved reliability on the 88/88A I imagine.

Since the April changes they have been running together a lot

Me! The 88/88A stop a few metres from me and the 5 is a short walk over the " Banana Bridge " over the A19.
Anyways the 88/88A are by far worse than the 5/50 and 50A, especially at Peak Times ( School Start/End , Town Centre Traffic etc )
They need more running time, With the 88/88A needing a PVR increase.

Not doubting what you're saying, but I have to ask.
Why we're they in an MPD and not a Peterlee vehicle?

Aye - Big'un got a snap of the 58 travelling up Newgate street, ast the Coop. We got off the 96 in its usual place opposite the Odeon around 1pm, though, so it must have just been for the bike ride. (I make no apologies for naming long since closed down establishments - those buildings will always be those places in my mind! I'e only just gotout of the habit of calling John Lewis, Bainbridge's)

I'm from the Brockeley Whins area and with the current reliability of the 88/88A, I always end up getting the 18 to Shields.
While I'm not being biased towards any company, In my opinion Stagecoach offer a better standard service on this corridor.

We saw your X24 coming in then! We were sat eating a bit of lunch - we'd caught the Work Eat Play bus on the X22, before it. We wer eonly about 15 minutes late, but it felt like hours.
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2016
I'm from South Shields too and think we need a big revision altogether. Since Jarrow and Shields depot closed we have seen a big decline. There are loads of areas that have no GNE services at all, but previously did. There is no competition between SNE and GNE either.

I think the 5/50 just need a better daytime overlay at South Shields

3872 - I got it from the MetroCentre back to Durham. Saw 7487 leaving just after I jumped off the S1.
