Yorkshire Bus Operations

RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations
(18 Jul 2016, 9:34 pm)Kuyoyo wrote Further major changes are taking place in the Rotherham and Sheffield area in early September as followed:
  • The 35 (Sheffield-Wincobank-Meadowhall-Hillsborough) will be reduced from half hourly Sheffield-Wincobank (hourly to Hillsborough) to just the hourly full route journeys.
  • The short 35s will be replaced by new service 70 which also partily replaces services 69 and certain 71 journeys. The remaining 71s are also slightly re-routed within the Meadowhall area while some journeys replace the 69 in Tinsley.
  • The 69 is fully replaced by new service X1 between Rotherham and Sheffield, which also extends to Maltby replacing the 1/2.
  • The X78 is reduced to every 15 minutes throughout the route. Between Rotherham and Meadowhall, the service is re-routed to replace the 22m which is withdrawn.
  • Saturday journeys on the 31/31a (Sheffield-Loxley) will be operated by Stagecoach instead of Sheffield Community Transport
  • The SL (Middlewood Park & Ride - Stockbridge) will be renumbered SL1/SL1a with alternative journeys operating the reverse route around the Stockbridge loop. Evening journeys on the SL1 are also revised and extended from Middlewood to Hillsborough Interchange (route to be confirmed)

More details have been posted on the Travel South Yorkshire Service Update list.

On top of previously posted:
  • Linburg will cease service work - the Abbeydale Road Tesco services (C1/C2/C3/C4/C5/C6) are withdrawn. The 505 which runs at peaks times only will be replaced by peak time extra journeys on TM Travel's Line 6.[Image: 17414540114_1ece47d5af_c.jpg]Linburg OUI9980 by Tony Kuy, on Flickr
  • The 'new' X1 (in reality the merger of the 69 with the 1/2) will operate every 10 minutes combined - in Maltby half the journeys will terminate at the present 1 terminus at Quailter Road Model Village (and will show 'Maltby, Quailter Road') while the other half termiante at the present 2 terminus at Salisbury Road (and will show that on the destination). The Sheffield terminus will move from the Interchange to Eyre Street to serve the Moor Market. Monday to Saturday early evening the service will operate every 20 minutes until 2100 when it reduces to every 30 minutes. Sundays will operate every 20 minutes until 1800 then every 30 minutes. Evening and Sunday journeys interwork with the Doncaster-bound 10 in Maltby.
  • The current X13 from Sheffield to Woodlaithes is renumbered X3 (to tie-in with the X1 no doubt) with an extra AM into Sheffield leaving Woodlaithes at 0650 and an extra PM from Sheffield leaving at 1800.
  • In Doncaster, Stagecoach's hourly extension of the X19 to Robin Hood Airport is replaced by a new First-operated X4.
  • In the Dearne Valley, Stagecoach's services are mainly retimed to improve coordination - the 22x/222/226 between Barnsley and Wath, the 220/221 between Doncaster and Mexborough.
  • TM Travel's 218 drops 2 weekday-only journeys - the 0630 from Sheffield to Matlock (the one and only journey along the old route that remains) plus the 1625 from Bakewell to Sheffield via Chatsworth House. The Saturday-only 0830 from Sheffield to Bakewell direct is introduced on a weekday as well.

This has been a bit of a coincidence really, i was checking out Blackpool Transports twitter page and they had retweeted a link to some government link regarding funding but i didnt look through it. It wasn't until seeing the above post that i went back and had a look at the article and noticed what it was.

The new X1 timetable is now available online

Of note:
  • The service operates via the present 69 route from Castle Square to Sheffield Arena (via Attercliffe) then via Dunlop Street, Weedon Street. Meadowhall Way and Meadowhall Road to Meadowhall Interchange.
  • It then operates via Meadowhall Way to the new Bus Rapid Transit road before resuming the current 69 route on Sheffield Road opposite St Lawerence Road (where the 69 currently serves).
RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations
More of the new South Yorkshire Timetables now available:
  • 57/SL1/SL1a:  SL1 evenings are reduced to hourly (SL1a also hourly - meaning some passengers connecting off the tram will have a longer wait as the current frequency is every 20 same as the trams). Sunday daytimes - combined 20 minutes frequency of 2 SL1s and 1 SL1a an hour. The Hillsborough evening extension is via Middlewood Road following the tram tracks
  • 70/71: combined half hourly service between Rotherham and Meadowhall with both services operating via St Lawerence Road but only towards Meadowhall/Sheffield. These services also serve the new Bus Rapid Transit road in that direction. The early morning weekday journeys from Rotherham to Sheffield operate as 71s rather than 70s. All evening and Sunday journeys between Rotherham and Meadowhall operate as 70s.
  • 6/6a: only two am peak journeys into Sheffield and one PM return replaces the 6 am and 6 pm trips on the 505 (which all run as round trip return journeys - but currently terminate at the University of Sheffield's Western Bank Campus)
  • 38/38a: 38a journeys run off peak only.
  • X3: the current X13 renumbered and revised to operate via the current 69 route out of Sheffield to Brinsworth Batley Lane (towards Sheffield, it operates via St Lawerence Road and the new Bus Rapid Transit Road)
  • X78: new frequency - every 15 minutes from each end of the route from 0700 until 1800 when it drops to every 20 (Doncaster drops to every 20 from 1745). From Sheffield it is every 20 minutes until 2030 (1930 and 2030 from Sheffield terminate in Rotherham) while Doncaster drops to half hourly from 1900. The last journeys along the full route now also leave earlier - the last departure from Doncaster to Sheffield is now half an hour earlier at 2210 arriving at 2322 (currently 2240 arriving at 2352, while the last Sheffield to Doncaster leaves at 2225 (currently 2230) arriving at 2337. The last Sheffield departure is now 2325 (currently 2355 with no 2325).
RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations
And in other news - which fits here as it is officially part of the Stagecoach Yorkshire operation - Chesterfield's new E200MMCs 26081-7 (YY16 YJL/M/N/O/P/R/S) are due to enter service this upcoming Monday (8th August) on the 54 (Chesterfield-Clay Cross). A number of the batch (either 3 or 4) are branded for the service in the same style used on Rawmarsh's examples on the 22x.

Chesterfield will also be having a Trident Farwell next Saturday (13th August) with their 6 non-DDA Tridents (17004/7-9/50/8) being used on services 25 (Chesterfield - New Whittington) and 84 (Royal Hospital - Holymoorside via Chesterfield Town Centre). In addition, open top Leyland Fleetline 15513 will be joining in the fun along with Stagecoach East's Tri Axle Leyland Olympian 14000. One of the vehicles will also operate Chesterfield's final 77 of the day between Chesterfield and Worksop leaving Chesterfield at 2005 and Worksop Bus Station at 2135.

Agreed!

The branding on that E200MMC is excellent. It's eye-catching, but retains Stagecoach's corporate theme at the same time.

It's not just eye catching, it strongly advertises the features of the bus. Had no idea the new E400MMCs up here had any sort of charging points until big'un spotted the usb ports, awkwardly placed at the bottom of the seats in front of us.

Ahead of service changes next weekend, the entire batch of Streetdecks at Rotherham have had their 'X78 Steel Link' headrests replaced with plain blue leather ones as they will no longer be allocated to the X78. They will instead be used on the new X1, for which 15 will be branded as 'Steel Link' in a similar style to the 'Pulse' branding in Leeds and the 'SimpliCity' brand in Glasgow. So far treated is 35135.

Transdev Yorkshire
Metro contract changes in October will see Transdev take over operation of service 948 (Eccleshill Hospital - Apperley Bridge Rail Station), 949 (Apperley Bridge Station - Thorpe Edge Circular) and 967 (Leeds Brand Airport - Otley - Menston) from TLC (however the 948/9 are to be reduced to peak-time operation only), and services 960 (Ilkley - Ben Ryhdding), 961 (Ilkley - Hebers Ghyll), 962 (Ilkley - Otley) and 964 (Otley - Cambridge Estate Circular) from Connexions.

Well, it lasted a bit longer than I expected after First gained the university contract. Which brings Transdev's York operation to entirely contracted services within the city centre - CityZap being the only commerically operated service.
RE: Yorkshire Bus Operations
Following various contract losses and council cuts the "Transdev York" brand consists of just service 20 during the day times.

They also run the City zap, City Sightseeing, Tadfaster and Little Explorers from York depot.
