Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2016

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2016
I believe the reason for a 10th board on South Tyne 88/88A is due to the effect of the long-term roadworks, I also think that the 88 and 88A now operate standalone rather than interworking at Lukes' Lane.

Interworking still takes place at Lukes Lane and timetable is unchanged.

Trips between 1028 & 1245 drop back 15 mins at South Shields.
The extra bus is the one that was used on the 93's, allocated a B10, but due to 4919/22 being withdrawn, a Scania will more than likely be used.  This extra bus stays out until 2327 (S Shields Mon-Thurs), or 0007 Jarrow (Friday).

The Scania allocated board(that starts at 0921 at Lukes Lane) drops out at 1252 (South Shields) and returns to Gateshead Metro.  It then operates 859/881 scholars and 92 (1618), 93 TVTE-G Metro (1725) and 92 (1808).

The extra bus on 93's is now a Decker

Saturday & Sunday do not have an extra bus added.

They still interwork at shields as 4899 went to shields as the 88 and returned as the 88A but terminated at Jarrow

It should arrive back at Eldon Square at 13:17 and will be the 13:25 departure to Easington Lane. After that, I think it will depart Eldon Square again at 15:50.

There are some new arrivals from down south, but they're not from Brighton & Hove!

The following Thames Travel Solos have been acquired:

705 - now numbered 705 in the Go North East fleet.
706 - now numbered 698 in the Go North East fleet.
707 - now numbered 699 in the Go North East fleet.
708 - now numbered 700 in the Go North East fleet.
720 - now numbered 695 in the Go North East fleet.

721 (which will be numbered 696 in the Go North East fleet) should be delivered next week.

Wonder if some will be for the 19? Hopefully not branded indiGo as I don't think it suits the 19 but would think Solos would be suited on there. They can get busy between Northumberland Park and Cramlington though.

And 2 for the 18?

Doubt we'll see any on the 19 - the use of 636 on there is only temporary until next Easter (or at least until further full size single decks can be sourced!)

Surely keeping 4912 is more logical considering they don't even  have enough single deckers for the 19, despite the fact that they have 5 B7RLE's for a PVR of 4.

Is 606 still in service, if so where?

Im assuming that the remaining 4 Solo SR's that are at Thames Travel are due to transfer at some point too and that's why 691-4 have been kept free?
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - October 2016
(07 Oct 2016, 4:31 pm)Jamie M wrote What about 0697?

There's 15 Solos coming up as previously mentioned. The Thames Travel Solo fleet is as followed:
  • 8 10-reg standard models which are all here (4 in service)
  • 6 13-reg SR models - 716-21 (YJ13 HNW/X/Y/Z, HOA/H)
  • A 2009-built Standard Model 722 (YJ59 NNH)
  • And a 2008-built model 709 (MX08 MYV)
As Dan previously reverted to Euro5 examples, we can rule out 709. Which then leaves exactly 15. The SR examples appear to be renumbered in order (691-6) while 706-8 have become 698-700. Likelihood is Thames' 722 will be 697

Going to hazard a guess that the bus that does the 831 runs onto the 17:55 V8 from Metrocentre? I saw 604 come back to Stanley with passengers on but had the NIS display so i couldn't tell.

Edit: The arrival back to Stanley seems to match so i am guessing this is the case

Wonder if 3 of these will end up at Deptford for the 237/238, as Deptford are due to gain 3 sometime.

It costs a lot of money to have extra spare vehicles in the fleet, so it makes sense for 635 and 636 to form part of a depot's PVR during the winter season. Keeping 4912 in the fleet is not more logical.

Arriva do the same each year with their peak/off-peak timetables in Whitby - when services revert back to their 'off-peak' timetables, vehicles are withdrawn. Given the investment into new and second-hand vehicles, there's bound to be cascades available by the time the services revert back to their 'peak' timetables. This applies to both Go North East and Arriva.

The running board is as follows:

- 08:12 #V8 (Park Horse - Stanley)
- Services 689 / 687 / 682
- 15:23 #831 (St Bedes School - Stanley)
- 16:05 #90 (Team Valley - Winlaton)
- 17:00 #12 (Blaydon - Newcastle)
- 17:55 #V8 (Metrocentre - Stanley)

Following use on the Tesco Consett service earlier in the day, 604 was allocated to the second half of the running board (831 service onwards) to replace Solo 641. 641 was instead allocated to services 45/47.
