Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2

That's what I thought.

Anyone know where Oakerside Park is in Peterlee?

I think it's odd too considering the Arriva services leave from park lane and are more regular. I reckon they will loose a few passengers because of it myself.

I would imagine they'll still go in to Park Lane, wonder if they'll go down Holmeside then down Atheneum street then along Fredrick street then finally on to Borough road.

So they'll only enter Park Lane going towards Peterlee etc

Or the same one-way loop as services 38/238 (ie via Burdon Road, Holmeside, then Park Lane) - getting customers closer to the shops?
RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2
Yeah I suppose that makes more sense. The changes are looking good though. Hopefully one of them calls into Dalton Park (new X6 probably). Provide a good link to Hartlepool, Blackhall etc.

Nope!  Tongue

Go North East has provided ample notice for service changes as of late - based on the commencement dates, I don't think we'll have to wait too long before details hit the public domain.

Hopefully not then.

Wonder what the frequancies will be of the X5/X6/X7?

Looks like each service will be hourly at the min

X5 - Sunderland, Park Lane Interchange and Hartlepool, Marina Way

X6 - Sunderland, Burdon Road, 'Winter Gardens - Hartlepool, Marina Way

X7 - Sunderland, Burdon Road 'Winter Gardens - Peterlee, Oakerside Park

I wonder if the X6/X7 will interwork at Sunderland?

Looks like all 3 services will combine so Sunderland have a service to Peterlee every 15 minutes - although the X5 will probables stay the same route as of now (X35).

Hopefully all of the routes will be under the same brand, if they do get branded.

Wonder if anymore will changes will appear on VOSA next week.... Maybe Peterlee to Boro? Wink

This is the thing that I can't get about the changes, an X7 has just passed me in Station Town heading towards Boro and most of the seats look to be filled, mind you can often see it leave Boro and Stockton with only a small handful at the same time though.
RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2
Have to remember the current X7 registration on VOSA is split:

Sunderland to Peterlee

Then

Peterlee to Middlesbough

The Peterlee to Middlesbough section might appear next week...

Unlikely if they are sending other buses to Station Town and Wingate in place of the X7. Unless they are planning on omitting Wingate and serving Billingham and Stockton together? Might provide backup for the X9/X10 if something was to go wrong.

Not sure, but if that section of the route is popular then it seems daft dropping it, the X9/X10 are busy anyway, what if it ends up where people are always left behind, maybe the X7 was a back up route for them?

Still think they should keep the X7 on that section of the route but hey, what do i know?, i don't know the passenger numbers etc

If the Blaydon Racers are getting Streetlites, i wonder if the Citaro's will end up on the X5 and X6 then, so all of them are allocated Citaro's (along with the X7), offering WIFI?

RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2
theres no really income for GNE if most of the passengers are pensioners who board for free, cant really see another registration for the southern end of the X7 (peterlee to Middlesbrough) since the originally registration has the service split at Peterlee bus station which is a main point rather than Oakerside Park.

I hope there would be enough citarios for service X5/X6/X7 and have them as a new brand, wouldn't be surprised that this new X7 be operated by Indigo solos.

Can't see there being a second registration for the X7 considering the fact that the registration we have seen for the X7 has the service as terminating at Peterlee Oakerside Park which seems a random place for it to terminate, unless you were going to bypass Peterlee Bus Station entirely, surely you would split the service at Peterlee Bus Station rather than a random place in the Peterlee area. Considering the fact that the 202 will be extended Station Town does make me think the X7 will no longer run beyond Peterlee.

Don't ask me where Oakerside Park is as I haven't a clue but I think the 23 heads round that way, maybe?

Not sure, as we don't know the Frequency's yet, hopefully the X7 does keep the Citaro's though... what year was the X7 launched again?

It was launched in early 2013.

Oakerside Park is where Arriva service 24 runs just after Peterlee bus station towards Durham. maybe GNE are stepping on Arrivas toes since Arriva are running an hourly service through Seaham.

Thanks, so it's nearly been 4 years and now they decide to take the Peterlee to Boro section away.... no doubt the changes will say "Due to low passengers on this section of the route"...........

And what if its true? A few busy journeys isn't necessarily enough for continued running of a service.

A little loop around Passfield Way, Oakerside and Durham Way perhaps?

I'm not sure Peterlee is ripe for bus wars mind.

If it is, then why not change them long ago, unless numbers have dramatically dropped the last year........

RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2
I'm just guessing that service X6 and X7 would be hourly and X5 maybe half hourly between Peterlee and Sunderland and hourly between Peterlee and Hartlepool, providing a 30 minute frequency between Hartlepool and Peterlee with service X6, with service X6 and X7 providing a bus half hourly between Sunderland and Peterlee.

unless Dan wants to share information with other members of this fourm.

I live on that section, GNE was going to run a service around Oakerside a few years ago, but Arriva diverted service 22 on a 30 minute service around there so that stopped GNE running there, before it was an hourly service round there with the council wanting a 30 minute frequency.

I can see it now, when service X7 is delayed it will be terminating at Peterlee bus station, as this is what Arriva drivers did when service 25 was running late and decided not to run the bus station to oakerside section which left stranded passengers at the bus station making other arrangements of getting taxis etc...

I wonder if the new 202 will go via Grampian drive in Peterlee between Moorcock and the bus station, since that area lost its bus service since there diverted service 21A from there quite awhile ago. so service 201 observe the north side and service 202 observe the south side. unless there want to observe east durham college.
