Firstly, good ride, nice power and some added variety.
However, the trim on the seats is absolutely shocking, something I'd expect from GCT or a school bus company. Seats are dirty and completely worn, many are torn to bits, especially on corners. Really disappointing they've been allowed to enter service like this, especially on a high profile route

I do agree with you on the interior. Having used a handful of them down Brighton this year and last, I was surprised that they've made it into service up here, without being re-trimmed first. I can understand not willfully wasting money to have the GNE moquette if not required, but there should be no question about it being required in this instance.
Just because they're second hand buses should not mean they must look like second hand buses. When the Vykings came up, the interior refurb made the world of difference.

The buses are subject to be swapped over and replaced with other buses during the day if there are delays to service - but those are the boards they should be allocated to from start of play. Without looking back, I'd assume some of the afternoon departures get the buses in Consett before the scholars peak, just in case anything goes horribly wrong. They'd be able to remove one of those Volvo B9TLs from service and replace it with a single-deck or minibus.
However; as Robert can vouch for, the appearance of Volvo B9TLs on St. Bede's scholars services are few and far between.

As for the bits in the middle, do the Red Kites still have that extended layover in Consett that caused 5409 to be added to the PVR? If so would, for example, the 12:00 #45 from Newcastle getting to Consett at 13:02 go back out on the 13:27 45 to Newcastle or would it go onto the 13:17 46?

Not for further service: it will be used for route learning purposes at Peterlee, for the service changes taking place next month.
572 remains at Chester-le-Street, withdrawn, for now.
