Go North East: 2017/18 Financial Year Order Predictions
Hey, it's only 5 weeks until Go North Easts new financial year so thought i would make a thread, and we know the last buses from the 2016/2017 financial year is 18 Streetlites.

It was said by BusmanT in the 2016/2017 thread: "can't see many new single decks coming for a few years after these"., this was a post after it was confirmed 18 more Streetlites would arrive - this can be found here: http://northeastbuses.co.uk/forum/showth...p?tid=1759&page=57

My predication's:

New buses:

Angel: 19 B5TL (includes 2 Spares)
Tyne Tees Express: 6 B5TL (NOW CONFIRMED)
Red Arrows: 14 B5TL (includes 2 spares)

Cascades:

B5LH
Coaster (PVR 13 PVR – 2 spares)

B9’s
Tyne Tees Express
4 to Hexham/Riverside for the TEN
1 to Percy Main for the Cobalt Clipper (spare)
1 to Stanley for the Red Kite

Red Arrow
14 B9’s to spare roles replacing 14 Presidents

B7’s (from various depots)
B7’s in to a spare role replacing 7 Presidents

Omnicities

5251, 52, 54, 61 - 72 to Chester for 13/14/X25 and for the 28/28A
5273, 5274 - spares

Total new buses:
39 new Streetdecks

Total Cascades:

16 Omnicites to Chester
7 B7’s to various depots

Withdrawals:

15 older Scania’s
21 Presidents (B7/Trident)

Vykings start to be replaced by Omnidekka’s from Brighton (if we get more than the 2 known)

Edit:

Changed from Streetdecks to B5TL, as confirmed in the "Go North East latest thread, B5TL's ordered for the X9/X10, part of a batch.

(25 May 2017, 6:14 pm)L469 YVK wrote New orders:

- 17x + 2x spare Wright Streetdeck for Angel 21
- 17x + 2x spare Wright Streetdeck for Cobalt Clipper 309/310/X39

Cascades:
- 6056 to 6068 = Riverside - Crusader
- 6069/70 = Riverside - Corporate Spares
- 6084(T) = Riverside - Corporate Spare
- 6101(T) = Riverside - Corporate Spare
- 6102/03= Riversde/Hexham - Corporate Spares
- 6104/05/06 = Riverside/Hexham - TEN (or Tyne Valley Ten)
- 6107/08/09/10/11/12 = Stanley - Toon Link
* Extra Mon-Fri Toon Link decker kept as car working*
- 6113/14/15/16 = Stanley - Red Kite
- 6117 = Stanley - Corporate Spare
- 6118 = Washington - Red Arrows (frequency re-increased)
- 6119/20 = Washington - Corporate Spares
- 6121 = Crook - Corporate Spare (private reg applied)
- 5310/11 = Stanley - Corporate Spare
- 5312/13/14/15/16/17/18/19 = Stanley - Toon Link
- 5328/29/30 = Stanley - Toon Link

Vehicles freed up for further cascades:
- 9x Scania OmniDekka (6x Stanley / 2x Washington / 1x Crook)
- 7x Volvo B7TL / Wright Eclipse Gemini
- 13x Scania OmniCity

Notes:
- If new vehicles were ordered for TTX, no'new' spare vehicles ordered with 6084/6101 stepping in if needed

So, where do I start with ripping this apart.....

The Crusader has been confirmed as retaining the Citaros (5310-9 plus 5320-2 replacing 5328-30) once they are refurbished. Therefore, 6056-70 won't be cascaded to the 27.

As for upgrading the Cobalt Clipper - I would say it is more likely that the Tyne Valley Ten will be the one to receive new deckers ahead of the 309/310/X39.

As has been stated, the B9s can not be used on Toon Link due to a low bridge on the X30 route in Dunston.

RE: Go North East: 2017/18 Financial Year Order Predictions
I can't see where anymore single decker routes would get converted to double deck operation, just simply as I can't see them investing in double decks on routes where you can just about get away with single deckers which cost less to run. I've been saying this for about the last two years in regards to everyone thinking that the Angel B5s would definitely be going on the 27 and sure enough I've been proven right on this one and considering how busy the 20/20A can get, they chose StreetLite's rather than going for double decker's, so because of these factors, I can't see them putting anymore B9's on the Red Kites. I could be proven wrong though... (I am aware the 47 got B9's in 2015 which was previously single deck operated - Volvo B7RLE's)

If I was wrong about the 27 getting the hybrids, my next theory would have been a frequency decrease from 12 minutes to 15 minute operation.
RE: Go North East: 2017/18 Financial Year Order Predictions
I'm not entirely sure they'll go to for Streetdecks.

I'd be more interested in the spec. The Ten could use tables spec but the 21 has to be capacity over gimmicks.
Wistfully stuck in the 90s

Ye i agree 100% that the 21 won't get tables, it gets far to busy for them to remove seats for gimmicks.

I was wrong that the X9/X10 would get Streetdecks, and it looks like i'm wrong for the other routes i predicated.

I guess reliability would be the first choice. I guess it's not profitable enough to invest in an Oxford Tube style vehicle.

RE: Go North East: 2017/18 Financial Year Order Predictions
TTX isn't getting Streetdecks but rather Volvo B5TLs. Bodywork is unknown yet but if ordering from Wrightbus, it would certainly be well thought if they were to be Low Height as when they come to the end of their working lives, they could be allocated for routes where a full height decker may not fit under such as the X30.

TENs also very unlikely to receive an upgrade as they'll most likely be getting 3x from the TTX for the 'Tyne Valley Ten' (if that leaked timetable was right) plus a further 2x as spares for Hexham / Riverside and the last one remaining at Riverside if no spares are ordered for the TTX or getting transferred elsewhere.
RE: Go North East: 2017/18 Financial Year Order Predictions
The only predictions i have is that the coaster 1/1A gets an upgrade possibly, the 93/94 loop gets an upgrade, and either the cascades from the 1 go over to CLS for 13/14/X25 and the solars from 93/94 go onto to the 28/28A,or vice versa solars onto 13/14/X25 and the omnies onto 28/28A

Maybe an upgrade for the 11 instead at it is often very busy when I see it (sometimes more so than the 1) and there never seems to be a full set of branded Solars on (reliability problems?)

Also, I think the Omnicities are well suited to the 1.

Only if they're deckers, it was said a while back that single decker orders would be low for the next few years unless Go North East have changed their mind.

If the B5LHs did be replaced on the 21, it would make sense for them to go on the Coaster then, and then the Omnicities could be shared across the 11/19. The 19 has problems with the B7RLEs to it makes more sense.

The only the B5LHs would be capable on the Coasters would be if they were retrofitted with a standard diesel engine.

If they were to upgrade the 19, I would suggest the 19 to be brought under a revised 'Cobalt Clipper' brand and some refurbished Mercs (WiFi, USB, NSA) with a tagline something like the following:

"Links from the heart of Northumberland and North Tyneside to Cobalt"

They could then to save fuel maybe allocate some to the 310's during the evenings and the 309/310 on Sundays (as long as there's no football, concerts, payday weekends, nice weather or Christmas shoppers).

I wouldn't have said the 1 is a demanding route so why would they need a standard engine? They manage fine on 308 and presumably they are ok on the 21.

With a double deck costing £230,000 each, the 7 X9 X10 and if it happens 19 Angel will cost £6 million.

On top of these, the 5 new National Express coaches will have cost £1.45m and the 28 refurbished Citaro £500,000.

So don't be expecting many more new buses.......

£230k each works out around £1.6m for the X9/X10s alone... I hope you can get a decent amount of publicity for spending that much! Shame there is no real push to promote them any more Huh

The latest 5 coaches 7133-7137, delivered just a couple of weeks ago, are part of the 2017/2018 order as they were not originally due until later in the year.

When are the New Volvos expected to arrive for the X9 & X10?

I was wondering if the Angel is to get New buses in the near future, could they maybe get the Optare Metrodecker? Just a thought based on how long they had the Demo Metrodecker and also the fact that Chester le Street depot has a fleet of Optare Versa's, just thinking along the lines of depot standardisation perhaps.

Disregard what I mentioned about the Red Kites on ANE's main thread. But, if the Angel was to get an upgrade this year lets say to Streetdecks or B5TLs, do you think that 6118-21 could end up also being replaced with either newer single deckers / double deckers?

Not saying that they're old by any means but looking at the spec of them compared to the Streetlites plus the fact that the Angel is more of a hop on / hop off route, do you think they'd make suitable spares for the Angel (3x) and Castles Express (1x) if they were fitted with NSA's? The only thing that they would miss would be plug sockets.

Not sure on that, although it would be great, i can't see it, it was already said that some journeys on the Red Kite, need the B9's so 4 Streetlites to replace those won't happen.

Rumours are going around that the B5's from the Angel will head to the Coaster.

If true....

15 B5's to the Coaster

3962/65 to a spare role

All 17 Omnicities remain at Percy Main for the 11 and 19, allowing the Volvo/Scania single deckers to move else where to withdraw older ones.
