just a quick question, why are 4978-4982 which are 54 plates numbered like this when there are also other 54 plates which are numbered 52**

Kind Regards

They are B7 forms, Eclipses rather than Solars. The differences are next to none but just to separate them.

It was mainly to do with the fact that the block of 28 "54" plated Scanias wouldn't fit in the remaining number series used for Single Deckers, so they used them to start off a new one with any single deckers arriving secondhand to Go North East filling up the remaining 4983 - 4999, before going on to 51xx on the last 2 lots of second hand single deckers. Brief overview of it is as follows....

4983 - 4988 - DAF SB220LF / N-C Paladin LF - Ex Speedlink
4989 - 4990 - Scania L94UB / Wright Solar - Ex Travel Ludlow
4991 - 4992 - Scania L94UB / Wright Solar - Ex Anglian
4993 - Volvo B10BLE / Alexander ALX300 - Ex Beestons
4994 - Leyland Tiger / ELC EL2000 (Rebody) - Ex Northumbria Coaches
4995 - 4999 - Leyland Lynx Mk2 - Ex Northumbria Coaches (4995 - 4998 were new to North East Bus and 4999 was new to Metrobus)

5144 - 5150 - Volvo B10BLE / Wright Renown - Ex Arriva Northumbria
5151 - 5171 - Volvo B10BLE / Wright Renown - Ex Oxford Bus

I support the idea (of the mini-hybrid), however the Citaro is a full-size bus whilst the Streetlite is a Midi.

Ok, to be more specific, he is most likely referring to the Streetlite Max.

My bad on that one, in all fairness the MAX variation is more common with Bus Operators than the Midi variation.

Would that Citaro qualify for the additional BSOG payments that the Streetlites do?

Not you at all - I certainly never go to the extent of adding the Max when talking about Streetlites and I know that the majority of the people on this forum are exactly the same.

In other news:

The lighting is bad, but 8328 looks to have gained the 'Recharge Your Batteries' tagline following its cant rail repaint:

How much are they each?, this is Mercedes, so won't be cheap, just like when Go North East bought the other Citaro's.

According to Wiki (Although not very reliable) -

Mercedes-Benz is currently testing prototypes of the Citaro with all-electric drive. The bus will feature a modular battery pack design and use the same electric wheel hub motors as the Citaro G BlueTec Hybrid. It is scheduled for presentation at the IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Hanover in September 2018.

There are no Volvo B5LH / Wright Eclipse Gemini 2s out on the Coaster today as both are currently parked up in the corner at the depot.

But the first journey would of been missed with potential passengers, that’s why I was wondering if GNE would be fined for non operational first journey.

Given that it runs every two hours, that's one hell of a wait to inflict on an intending passenger ....

Why would you want sanctions imposed if the bigger shows nearly 100% reliability (I'm guessing so since I've never even heard of the service until now)

Terms of contract perhaps?
Similar fines/financial clawbacks were imposed when DB were running the metro.

Discourages non-compliance and is supposed to help towards maintaining the required standard of service - whether it be down to technical failure or a non-compliant vehicle.

No idea, but some people might be stuffed. A few people rely on it to get to work.

It’s paid for with Country Councillors money so yes I would think they would be fined if they inform DCC.

Yes, Durham County Council contracts have a lost mileage penalty arrangement built into them, non operation will be reported to DCC as lost mileage.
Malarkey   25 Dec 2017, 6:53 pm
(21 Dec 2017, 6:48 am)Dan wrote Cathedral Bus livery has nothing to do with Go North East (or previous operators of the service) - it is specified within the contract that Durham County Council will provide a livery for vehicles operating the service. If no livery is provided, the operator is welcome to use their own fleet livery.

The Scania L94 would have been route-learning the new H1 service, which will be operated by Deptford.

Much the same as last year (or a normal Sunday service).

9 - Prince Bishops Streetlite
20 - Fab56/Fleet livery B9TL
35A - Prince Bishops Streetlite
47 - Red Kite B9TL or Fleet livery OmniDekka
60 - Prince Bishops Streetlite
61 - Black Cats Streetlite
88 - Fleet livery Versa
M6 - Diamond Streetlite (interworks with 6/X30 as normal Sunday)
X5 - Black Cats Streetlite
X21 - Angel Hybrid/StreetDeck
X30 - Diamond Streetlite (interworks with 6/M6 as normal Sunday)

All other allocations are the correct branded vehicle.

Some late evening journeys will be operated by different depots, like last year.

Any idea which journeys these are?

If the 309/310 run next year, would it be likely that they would be operated using Coaster B5LHs instead of B9TLs due to the fuel savings as well as BSOG payments?
