Dunno if you use tapatalk, but all image links fail to work on the app. If you use webview, it should work.

Also looks like a good day out. Hopefully the sun stays out!

Just a reminder of the event today. Go North East will be in attendance today, featuring a vast amount of buses, with a "Volvo through the years" theme.

Didn't attend although said I would. Had some personal issues but I don't carry change normally anyway so wouldn't have gone inside. Nice day for it like, but meh.

I think they'd give change... I don't think 'idiot' has imposed his exact fare aspirations there yet.  Tongue

Point taken but not exclusively why. I didn't much like the boro event which probably pushed me further away from this event. I know it'd be helpful to have explicit reasoning for why, but I don't have it right now. But I feel whatever the reason, it'd still apply to this event.

Was busy today, most of the shuttle buses were full or nearly full going to and from Gateshead

Just uploaded some photos from what Go North East had to offer, will upload other photo through the week.

Layout was this issue again which is highlighted every year, they were lined up this morning with the sun pretty much on top of them so you were shooting into the sun. I would of had moved them to where the stalls facing the sun with stalls nearer the river, GNE had the right idea going into the afternoon by having a shift around which made the event a bit more enjoyable for me, other than it was your usual stuff you see year on year with JH Coaches providing a few vehicles which caught my interest, still curious as to how they managed to get the Scania Coach in mind.
RE: North East Bus & Coach Show 2018
I also attended the event today. Overall I had an enjoyable day although I have seen most of the preserved buses before. I agree that spacing of buses was an issue early on although it seemed to improve throughout the day.

For anyone interested Go North East brought:
3819, 3942, 6030, 6060, 6100, 6117, 6309, 4899, 4982, 6332. All Volvo except the contactless Streetdeck.

I enjoyed the shuttle ride I had on 3819 in particular as its been nearly 2 years since I rode a Go North East Olympian. This will almost certainly be my last chance as I heard that it will be withdrawn very soon, possibly as early as next week. I also rode on 6309 which meant that I rode on both the oldest and newest volvo's in the fleet.

So far I have just uploaded my Olympian photos but there will be more to come

I'll say the same as I do every year, usual faces from the local preserved scene and GNE, I always say this but I would like to see more buses from elsewhere but geographically Newcastle is a bit away from other areas like Scotland and Yorkshire, so it's understandable why this doesn't happen.

I will echo the comments about things being lined up close together but the amount of space available doesn't help but at least some of the stuff did move about towards the end so the front of the buses were facing into the sun.

Fairly enjoyable day, I was only there between 10:30 - 12pm then 3pm - 4pm, I preoccupied myself elsewhere between 12 - 3 including lunch and a ride on the Yutong on the 100 as I have been busy elsewhere these last few weeks.

Don't expect any rally photos from me tonight as I'm knackered.
RE: North East Bus & Coach Show 2018
Excellent turn out from GNE and decent range of older stuff.  I know Arriva rarely support any of the rallies but seemed unusual to see nothing from Stagecoach – do they normal turn up to this one?

Also, anyone know why 111 is never seen alongside 268 & 838?  Even though all three were present today, 111 was tucked up at the other end of the display to the other pair basking in the sun.  A real shame they don’t line the three of them up together.

This not an Arriva bus then?
RE: North East Bus & Coach Show 2018
Arriva only don’t attend this rally as there’s not be a risk assistment carried out by the company.

I’ll echo everybody else comments about the parking of vehicles - and also Jimmi’s about ‘the usual suspects’.
RE: North East Bus & Coach Show 2018
It seemed to me there was a drop in the number of people attending. I enjoyed the rally but I didn't stay long. I think the organisation has improved from previous years. A good idea would be a bus running to the Central Station to pick people up who come to Newcastle by train. I like Rayners new livery, very smart. Picked up a good book about Darlington buses.

I'm hoping to get to Scarborough Bus Festival next weekend.

I also thought there were fewer people in attendance than in previous years. I don't know whether I agree the event was better organised, I certainly witnessed one incident which could have been better handled where one preservationist appeared to throw a childlike tantrum because he was asked to park somewhere else, but it also seemed there were fewer vehicles present than last year which may have made the area less clustered. Sometimes, I can stay at rallies from beginning to end and the time flies but I was bored after about an hour and left soon after. While I appreciate the time and effort that goes into planning bus rallies, I found this one to be a disappointment - it's just the same old, same old.

At least it was a nice sunny day though!
RE: North East Bus & Coach Show 2018
Although I didn't attend the rally itself, I did photo most of the vehicles arriving, they can be found here - https://www.flickr.com/photos/gjm-photogenic

Also Rayners livery is actually the coach's previous livery from when it was with Damory Coaches.

(Watch me as I kill another rally thread dead)

Stagecoach haven't supported this one for as long as I can remember? I think the only Tyne and Wear event they tend to bother with is Seaburn.

Agreed. I am sure if somebody mentioned it to the owners, they might make it happen for a photo. Smile

Its a shame that there is always one arsehole to spoil the mood for everyone else. As much as I see people twisting about kids running around, I do find there to be just as many so-called adults that are just as bad. Usually the type that'll sit on their bus all day with their doors closed, rather than attempting to engage people who are there and interested in the bus.

I took the boys down for a bit, though the sun was too strong for us to stay there very long. Bigun got lots of photos and we probably ruined a fair few pics taken buy guys with big, serious cameras.

Bigun almost did a jimmi before I persuaded him to get out of the way of the bus because it was driving towards him!

Shildon as well (although Arriva were absent from the Howlands rally for some reason last year).

Stagecoach normally only seem to attend the Teesside Running Day although I believe they made an appearance at Seaburn last year.

In the last four years at least, this year's Teesside Running Day was the first time I saw all of the big 3 attend the same rally.

The reason for arrivas absence this year was because the vast majority the drivers that usually bring arrivas presence were also absent due to work commitments!

Last year it was health and safety. This year it was more the fact no one asked because they were working! See you at Durham hopefully!
