(02 Dec 2013, 10:05 pm)BJ10VUS wrote The Wellington Street, Gateshead bridgeworks have, as you will be aware, now over-run, by a considerable number of weeks.

Following dialogue with Gateshead Council, we have now been advised that these works will be removed by Friday 20th December 2013 and will not be reinstated after the Christmas and New Year period.

Consequently, all services operating between Gateshead and Newcastle will return to normal route via Hills Street as soon as the bridge works have been removed.
Typical Network Rail contract over-run , remember how many times they put back the completion date when they closed the High Level Bridge. Network Rail seem to under estimate the scope of work on these jobs allowing their contractors to apply multiple variation orders resulting in the schemes failing on time and budget delivery.

I got stuck towards Durham this morning past few days (likely school run traffic around there with the 2 schools)

My key card didn't work yesterday, insisted driver took the digits (as per GNE instructions) and he blank out refused saying it wasn't his problem and I had to fork out £2.60 from Gateshead to the Fell. Not impressed.

I'm not even going to bother writing in as it's a corporate one and they'll give me a useless free ticket and an empty apology. Have to say its rare as CLS drivers are normally spot on.

It worked fine on the X21 so obviously a defective reader

£2.60 from Gateshead to the Cannon Inn at Low Fell?! - What a rip off, you only pay £1.80 on the X2 from Newcastle!

Ask them to run a card report print out for you next time. It shows valid tickets even if the reader doesn't recognise them.

Every driver I've asked has done that for me and taken it as proof. The one that didn't know how just threw his toys out the pram and told me to sit down.

Wasn't 4865 originally on the X66 supershuttle when GNE first bought them?.

Does anyone think something needs doing about the X1...Once again, I witnessed 3 in Hetton just before 12...6051 and 6054 pulled in together, 6051 stopped short and headed straight back to Newcastle with 6054 heading off to E.Lane after 6051 passengers moved onto 6054. Not more than about 30 seconds later another Red Arrows Decker pulled in N.I.S (possibly 3943) I guess it was an extra bus vehicle put out to slot in somewhere along the route.

In the past I have also seen it being turned round in Houghton, is it not therefore worth GNE revising the X1, keep the 10 minute frequency and turn it round in Houghton or Hetton and a 20 minute frequency for Easington Lane. It has happened quite a bit and that is no way reliable.

Penny for your thoughts guys

I don't think so - It was only the 6 P reg ones (P320/1/2/3/4/5AFT) ones that were originally on the X66.

£3,000 for the DAF is a Bargain, Hopefully someone from up in the North East Buys it and Preserves it, As for the Street Shuttle MPD's what a shame as they were excellent little buses which could of lasted another year or 2 in my opinion, I know many would disagree with that, but I personally loved them. If I had a Driving Licence/Public Service Vehicle Licence and had the £10,000 to go with it, I would Buy one Tomorrow.

GNE sold a 52 reg dart, and Peterlee running about with X reg and 51 reg mpd's, unless the ex consett venture buses be replacing the crappy east durham ones, as was mentioned in earlier posts, so GNE doesn't have to paint them as there are already in yellow and GNE can just slap a east durham sticker on the side of the bus lol

Dont think I would part with that kind of money for those, 13 large for the pair, but I suppose it is good if someone does take it on, would be better if used instead of seeing it end up in a breakers yard and going to bus heaven

Plenty life left in them I say. They're worth gold for small independents MPD's. Like the Prestige, they are listed on the Ensign site, but must be seeing if they can shift them on Ebay first.

I think that is indeed what is happening as of next week I believe, I don't care about the X/51 Reg Examples as they are dreadful, hopefully they'll go to Bus Heaven. I only liked the 52reg Batch onwards.

I also noticed that the other day, the front bumpers being sandy coloured...Similar to the colour of the Marshall Darts that was first used on the Drifter when it was introduced...While I like the blue base colour, the bumper colour looks quite like a shitty looking shade of yellow, like Dog/Baby Diarrhoea

Yeah, I guess it may be a lifeline for Independent...I guess 3K/10K may be a decent investment if it means a massive difference to an Independent Company
