(23 Jul 2018, 4:28 am)Dan wrote Having seen it in person, I think the Enviro looks absolutely naff! A big gripe of mine is the advertisement rails being kept on the bus when they have no intention of being filled (but obviously there's a cost implication of removing them). The black cant rail on the Versa also helps to break up the pink so it sits a lot nicer on that vehicle type, in my opinion.

Really not sure why the Stagecoach example contains two #GetNorth2018 hashtags either, with very minimal Stagecoach branding (one very small logo on the front and that's it - the second #GetNorth2018 hashtag above the doors could have been substituted for a Stagecoach logo quite easily.

I suppose its good enough for the remaining 6 weeks or so left of the exhibition. I wonder how much it has cost Go North East to carry out the repaints and rebranding of the Versa's into this livery and then back into the Quaylink livery afterwards,  especially if they don't receive any funding towards it.

Pity they didn't spend whatever money was available on printing some timetable leaflets for their customers instead!

Re Advert boards.

Worst has to be the Red Kite Geminis, advert boards right across the branding of such an eye-catching application. I can only suspect that they are near to repaint in the near future, although have had their advert boards since May.

Bit too much going on at the moment, other things are being prioritised. But yes, the adverts slapped over the majority of the branding looks awful.

The repainting of Cobalt Clippers should have commenced by now (and half gained advertisement frames in the run up to this like Coaster), but the ex-London stock needs to take priority now while the buses are temporarily withdrawn before September anyway. The Red Kite B9s were due to have branding modified but again, other things needing to take priority for now.

The intake of the ex-London stock, including advert frames, really should have ousted the need for branded vehicles to need advert frames (to oblige contractual requirements)... But I suspect Go North East wouldn't get as much revenue for a scholars decker, than a branded bus on a core route. As with many things, cost vs benefit...

6902 out of the paintshop this morning, and 6901 went in in its place this afternoon (had red and black sections painted today, will have the blue done tomorrow).

6914 was returned to Riverside yesterday, with 6912 taking its place at Saltmeadows Road for repaint also. This one has largely been prepped now, so will be the next one to be sprayed (likely to be early next week now).

Handful of other B7s at Saltmeadows Road too - 6905/06/20/24/25 are the fleet numbers off memory - with 6920 the furthest progressed out of the Presidents in having the Hanover LEDs fitted.

(25 Jul 2018, 5:28 pm)JM03 wrote Are any presidents getting kept?

Yes, all 34 of the ex-London B7s which were acquired for the Tall Ships event are being retained. Only the 19 '06' plate Geminis are being repainted in fleet livery, but all are having Hanover LED destinations fitted prior to starting their role in the scholars fleet from September.

All of the serviceable B7s acquired from London and EYMS will be out in force over the Airshow weekend. Subject to change, but the current plan is for all of the EYMS examples to operate out of Deptford and be allocated to the A1 service. Three of Riverside's OmniDekkas are currently planned to be loaned to Washington for the weekend to operate the A2 service on Saturday.

Like the deckers from East Yorkshire, are the presidents only temporary, are they down for replacement already, since they won't be repainted?

No plans to replace the '54' plate ex-London B7s as of yet - but as these contracts are only for one year, it doesn't make a lot of sense to go to a lot of cost to repaint all 34 of the ex-London B7s, and from a time perspective, there's only a 6-week gap to get these buses up to specification which isn't really a lot of time to begin with.

Should Go North East be as successful in winning all of these contracts again next year, I'd say it's likely that the '54' plate ones will be repainted then. Until that time comes, the bodywork condition of the '06' plate ones is much worse so really they needed a repaint.

If Go North East aren't as successful in winning these contracts in 12 months time, then it's quite likely that the '06' plate ones would be retained in the fleet anyway (there's V-reg, 02-reg and 54-reg to withdraw before any 06-reg!)

Are the ex-London deckers going to most depots or just staying at one or two with Omnidekkas going to Percy Main/Washington for example with the ex London buses staying at Riverside.

With fleet standardisation in mind, similar bus types will be grouped as closely as possible... So the EYMS ones are likely to be grouped together at one depot (most likely Saltmeadows Road to keep them isolated from the main service fleet), the 02-plate dual-door Vykings are likely to be grouped together at one depot, etc.

I'd expect Chester-le-Street to standardise their double-deck fleet with OmniDekkas, and Washington to standardise their fleet with native B7/Gemini (currently at Chester-le-Street). This gives these smaller depots with fewer spare vehicles some flexibility in using the scholars buses during the day if needs be. It'd be less practical having the ex-London stock at either Chester-le-Street or Washington as it's quite likely that they'd be out in frontline service on a daily basis (as has been the case with the 02-plate Vyking Special Events fleet this year!) Depots such as Deptford and Riverside tend to be a bit more disciplined with scholars buses, only using them as a very last resort.

And stanley has done and seen it all

Mind, I can't see those huge omnidekkas getting onto tesco buses, that's all I can see never happening for at least the next few weeks...!

There was one day last week with the trees meaning that more or less the durham diamond 6A boards were all Red Kite buses and the Red Kite boards were all durham diamonds. That was confusing a little, felt like it was 30 mins later or earlier

Talking of all this tree branch inflicted chaos -- when are our branchy friends at Rowlands getting the cut?

And I'll slip this here - having deckers on 6As has been good. I really think they need to put them on with sundays or split it into 30 mins for the evening. The Streetlites get absolutely packed on Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday evenings, consistently.

Ah right cheers, that's not a bad idea. Hopefully Percy Main get more OmniDekkas as I can't see dual door buses going down well on the 1 and 11.

The council have spoken to the owner of the tree, and the tree branch is going to be cut back... But due to health and safety reasons, the stretch of road needs to be closed to facilitate this work. So slightly further forward, but not there just yet!

Will hugging and chaining myself to the tree ensure B9s end up on 6As? It's a risk I'm willing to take!
