I can't really see the point in the being a Tesco at the Metrocentre when they have a new superstore opening in Gateshead in a few months and when they have a massive store at Kingston Park. Surely if they do build that would bring less customers to both stores, Plus there's the competition from ASDA which has been there for years.

As for the Buses the S1 could have a stop implemented into it's route around the Metrocentre, can't see a bigger bus being needed than what's already being used by GNE.

On top of that Stagecoach could have the 6/7 operate via Asda/Ikea then to Tesco then back to Normal route past Gala Bingo into the Metrocentre or alternatively have the 10/10A go along that way, although the Blaydon Racers go along the back of IKEA coming into the MetroCente from Blaydon so they could easily be diverted to run via Tesco/IKEA/ASDA and then into the MetroCentre. and then scrap the S1 as nobody would use cause if you think about it people only get on/off at ASDA and the Bus Station really.

I'm reading into this too much so i'm gunna stop there

I've been on that Merit on the S1 when I've had 15 mins to kill before my bus was due before and it has been full. Lots of elderly passengers at some points of the service have to stand.
Not so sure that having a larger vehicle would be feasible though - wouldn't like to see how anything larger coped on some of the bends.

it's a closed group so this link might work and you have to request to join, tbh the group is awful news wise, more odd allocation news more than anything else, unlike this group which as has news on fleet movements/service changes/repaints etc.

Yeah, I'll stick with this I think. I find groups like that tend to have a moderator on power trips who think they are the bee's knees which is why I like the relaxed pace of this forum

Same thing different day really and he's changed the security settings on the group so if you post something it must be approved by an admin, he is totally pathetic in my opinion.

This group is way better, I like it and agree that it's relaxed whereas on his group it just constant arguing if somebody disagrees with information posted.

Must have been a VERY early working then (before 11am)... I tried to catch the usual duty whenever it is near 11am in the Newcastle area and it wasn't there, tried again at the time when I've always gotten it just in case I cocked up the times for the 11am working and it wasn't there then either. I'd assumed she'd gone.

DAILY DIGEST: 22/02/13 - Insufficient data, no post could have been provided.

DAILY DIGEST: 23/02/13

First, there is now only one more "Crusader" branded Volvo B10BLE/Wright Renown. It is 4908. It saw use on "The Highwayman" service 97 today, as can be seen in the photo below:
4908 (danielgrahamm)

Second, due to the adverse weather conditions, several vehicles suffered badly today. There were at least three break-downs seen by me, with a possibility of further vehicles too. Other vehicles did not break down, but were excessively late and were replaced by other vehicles because of that. An example of a broken down vehicle can be seen below:
6040 (danielgrahamm)
For reference, ex-"Crusader" 4846 was taken out of service at approximately 15:15 today due to its wiper snapping... Don't ask. Another example of a break-down was "Angel" 6058. Can't remember the other one that I spotted that had broken down - must have forgotten to note it by texting myself! Two examples of vehicles that suffered blind problems would be 3821 and 4900.

Next, Volvo SB120CS/Wright Merit 8266 (NK04 ZNE) has now received Go North East logo and legals on her white base, as can be seen in the photo below:
8266 (Tom's North East Bus Photos)

Following a recent collision with a Stagecoach vehicle, "QuayLink" 8317 has had its window replaced that was smashed and is back in service. News from a few days ago but I've just remembered upon writing about QuayLinks!

Also, ex-"Crusader" 4937 was spotted today working "Crusader" service 27. She is now out of her maroon base colour, and in a very smart-looking Northern livery. Must also be noted that she carries full stickers to commemorate the one hundredth annivesary of Northern General too. To see a photo, do have a look below:
4937 (danielgrahamm)

Work on the "Go North East: Buses By Brand" collection continues. Following quite a long trip out in the snow today, a lot of vehicles were added. See below for a list:
- [REP] "Silver Arrows" 5323
- [ADD] "X66" 5339.
- [REP] "Soccerbus" 4910
- [ADD] "Angel" 6057, 6063, 6065
- [ADD] "Yellow Bus" 3821
- [REP] "DFDS" 3866, 3891
- [ADD] "Northern" 4837
- [ADD] "The Orbit" 8334

Because of the addition of 4910 once more and 5339, the X66 set and Soccerbus set are now complete. Do note that these sets are subject to have photo replacements. As can be seen above, if I take another photo which I deem to be better, or I get a photo of the vehicle in question on the service it is meant to be on, it will most likely be replaced upon evaluation. For the full collection, click here.

Penultimately, the odd allocations... What I had anticipated to be the final thing, but thought of something else to talk about too!
- "Crusader" 4908 on "Highwayman" service 97. (danielgrahamm)
- "Northern" 4921 on "X66 Metrocentre" service X66. (danielgrahamm)
- "Fab Fifty Seven" 5270 on "Crusader" service 27. (danielgrahamm)
- "The Loop" 5224 on "Citylink" service 58. (danielgrahamm)
- "Orbit" 8334 on "QuayLink" service Q2. (danielgrahamm)
- "Laser" 5300 on "Fab Fifty Six" service 56. (danielgrahamm)
- "Whey Aye Five 0" 4926 on "Lime" service 78. (danielgrahamm)
- "Northern" 3860 on "North Tyne Links" service 41. (Tom's North East Bus Photos)

Finally, some nice snow shots to conclude the post! Something unusual which we may not get another opportunity to do, so it's something nice to include, don't you think?
- 5158 (Tom's North East Bus Photos)
- 3879 (Tom's North East Bus Photos)
