Any news on what damage the Streetdeck that hit the bridge sustained?
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - January 2019
(03 Jan 2019, 5:52 pm)streetdeckfan wrote I noticed that too. And it always happens right as you want to see the destination!
I wonder how long before drivers get sick of people asking where their bus is going, or sticking their hand out at the last minute, because they want the bus for 'Fencehouses' - not 'January App Sale'
Not a fan of this at all. Destination equipment should be used for exactly that purpose - informing customers of where the bus is going.

I'm not a fan of it myself and glad it's only going to be around for this month.
At least they have executed it better than Transdev though, who not only didn't display the route number while the promotion display was on, but had the price in the same font proportions as the route number. Certainly not 'amazing'.

On the topic of destinations, is there anything planned to get the 'X30 Newcastle' display changed over to the terminal point only style?

It isn't best practice to do what they've done... DDA regulations state that "commercial advertising should not detract from them (the destination on display)"

I hope it isn't introduced to the Angel21s, and if it is, it's only towards to Newcastle, as passengers will want to know which of the 4 Angels coming towards them together are going to Chester-le-Street or Durham, not how much a ticket they most likely won't buy is.

The displays are awful, I agree wholeheartedly with the above statement.

Does anybody know the cost of a single from Durham?
I've not been fortunate enough to see (or notice) these 'destinations', but looking at comments - I'm guessing GNE have replaced the destination with this advertising. Is that correct?

Interesting.
I've quoted this post from citaro5284 that's in the psvar thread.
Under DDA regs, the route number and terminal point should always by shown on the front. If the service is registered with the TC and it has a route number, then under the rules, it must be shown at all times. If they just register the service as Rainbow (even thou their buses are not painted in rainbow colours undefined) for example, then this needs to be shown at all times instead of the route number.
There is nothing in the regs about colour, so whilst some colours do not look good to see, they are fine with that.
As you say, its difficult to argue a case, however if the things I have mentioned above are not constantly shown, they are breaking the PSVAR rules.

Yes I would take that view too. In the actual regulations (page 34 under 'Best Practice') it says:
"A good destination and route number display will be clearly legible by day and night and commercial advertising should not detract from them."
This isn't me defending them, I still don't like the display, but they technically aren't in breach of the regulations.

I'm not sure I noticed a particular increase in the amount of m-tickets but I don't really keep a mental note of who paid with what. Be interesting to see the stats of which method of advert most motivates a customer in this sector. As a passenger I never read advertisements or looked for a better deal, where there probably was one to be had.
Hopefully as more smart devices flood the network, more smart payments take place. I'd like to see some peak buses use contactless or pass use only, see how much difference it makes to cash in hand.

Is this display on the 309/310/X39
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - January 2019
I saw those January adverts on the destination blind of a Blaydon Racer Citaro today.
It’s so crammed on you can barely read it.

726 and728 have arrived for the Sunderland Connect, they feature:
Esteban Civic V3 seating complete with leather and soft topper foam for added comfort; two-colour Tarabus 'Wood Effect' flooring; and blue accent lighting, which is fitted underneath seats and on the stairwell, to provide extra light on the gangway. Like all of Go North East's new vehicles; they feature Wi-Fi, 'Next Stop' audio-visual announcements and USB connections as standard, although this is the first time USB power sockets have been included on an Optare new-build.
